Quite Naturally....

Quote:
Michael Jordan helped the Chicago Bulls win six championships.

But Jordan told USA Today his success offensively may have been greater under today's NBA rules.

"It's less physical and the rules have changed, obviously," said Jordan, who was promoting NBA 2K11 video game. "Based on these rules, if I had to play with my style of play, I'm pretty sure I would have fouled out or I would have been at the free throw line pretty often and I could have scored 100 points."

Jordan averaged 30.1 points and 6.2 rebounds a game in his 15-year career.

Comparisons are often drawn between Jordan and Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who won his fifth title last season. Where does Jordan think Bryant stacks up with the greats of the game?

"It's so hard to say," Jordan told the newspaper. "I think he is always going to be within the conversations of some of the greatest players who've played by the time he is finished. Where does he rank among those, if you are talking about positions? If you are talking about guards, I would say he has got to be in the top 10."

The rules did change a lot in the favor of the offensive player since he left. If Kobe could score 81 points Jordan could at least have done 90 in his prime.

I believe him. He probably would have averaged 40-45 ppg the with the soft ass defense that played these days

Jordan would have had a much better chance at scoring 100 now than he did with the "old rules". Not sure if he would have actually done it, but the chances were better.

Knicks used to mug Jordan with his back to the basket.

Guys, this is a rip on Jordan thread. Not a "Let's all blow M-Jeff" thread.

Geez, first you all screw up Ugie's thread, and now my own. ISOP....

Ditka would never be able to score 100 points in a game.

Lots of people lost a lot of money betting against him. I don't think it's a ridiculous statement especially if he put up 63 shots like Wilt did

There's the nagging fact that Wilt's shooting percentage was 50 points higher though.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that on a day that Jordan was good enough to score 80+ that he would have a higher than career average day shooting the ball. He'd probably shoot in the .600's like Kobe did.

Well, we all agree Michael would average 60 per game in today's weaker more offense oriented NBA, but would he beat Annette Parker in a 100 meter race?

Jordan (in his prime) would average somewhere around 42 points a game right now.

It was the major league curveball and the slider that he couldn't hit. He could handle the heat.

Wilt used to say the same shit after he retired. I think Wilt even said he'd give it to Shaq in his prime.

Could MJeff score 100 nowadays? It's possible. It also depends on if we're talking Jordan in his first prime, or his second prime. I think young, just started lifting weights MJ (89-93) could avg 35-40 in this league easy. Jumpshot/fadeaway MJ would find it more difficult even though he'd be on the line a lot. He def couldnt play his brand of defense anymore, that's for sure.
