I was watching Barbershop last night and it made me a little sad to see the dutchman and Cedric the Entertainer in a scene together.

His work on SportsChannel is a big part of my childhood Bulls memories.

Still no cause of death that I've seen.

Anyone?

I thought I remembered heart failure as the cause.

I remeber searching through some articles a few months ago and couldn't really find anything still. Could be my half-assed research...

Have a great story about hanging with Norm one night about 8 years ago after a charity softball game. What a down to earth cool dude he was with not an ounce of big time in him. Also made one of the most spectacular stabs of a one hop bullet hit down the line at third base Ive ever seen :)

Got to meet Norm a few times when he was with Douggie. Was a great dude. 8)
Wish I could've shared a bean bag with him at least once in my life. :(

I just checked again and found a bunch of articles about this supposed autopsy that was going to take place on the Friday after his death. No mention anywhere of the cause. That's a little strange, no?

I thought Norm Van Lier relaxed in a beanbag, jammin' to the Rolling Stones & Led Zeppelin when not analyzing Bulls' basketball prior to his death...

No, he only did that after he died.

It was Norms heart. It was weak for years and he often had issue with overall circulation because of it.

Doug told a couple of stories on the air about how he really couldnt fly because of it and how the blood would collect in his feet and legs and bloat them, but he went to see his daughter before he passed as Doug felt that Norm kinda knew it was coming to an end.

Met Norm at Pizzanos one night, we had a about a 5 hour talk about some old Bulls players (OK, he did most the talking, I just suggested names and he had stories) Boerwinkle, Gilmore, Scott May, Mickey Johnson

Toughest "SOB" to guard, in his own words was?????????????????????

Just tell the damn story.
Norm dead as shit so he don't give a fuck if you talk about a conversation you had with him.
I'm sure whoever the tough sob is wouldn't give a damn if you said it.
So tell the damn story.

Remember norm for who he was, and don't question why he died - as it ain't bringing him back to put a foot up your ass.

+1

Norm was the only thing about the Bulls that I ever liked.

My guess would have been Norm said Norm was the toughest SOB to guard. But you said it was a white guy.

Bullshit. I want to know how he died. That doesn't make me a bad person or whatever. I thought he was a cool cat and just find it very odd that the media has gone out off their way to keep his death a secret...

Gotta agree with krazyglue here. giving a cause of death is a pretty standard type thing for a celebrity/actor/athlete and when one isn't given it's certainly natural to speculate as to why
