Wasnt she dating a sales guy for a long time? Going to say that may have escalated into "People at the Score"

I do question whether she assumed this would happen or not. She wasnt doing much at all.

If she was fired for this, it's pretty lame, IMO. She covers the Fire, for the most part.

Even then, if she did/does cover the Hawks, what difference does it make?

It's a very dicey subject. Even though Jen Patterson wasn't at United Center covering the Blackhawks like Sarah Kustok has for Comcast SportsNet, keep in mind that the Stanley Cup Champions have more than a casual stake in the regional sports network. While both sides are saying very little about what really happened, it's believed that Jen's CSN bosses frowned over Sun-Times' columnist Bill Zwecker even reporting that she's an item with Blackhawk Nick Boynton.

Let me mention another high-profile sports anchor/reporter for a moment. Does anyone remember FOX Sports West anchor/reporter Carolyn Hughes? She was pre & postgame host for the Dodgers on that regional sports network and had an affair with then L.A. pitcher Derek Lowe, now of course with the Braves. Hughes & Lowe's fling occurred while those 2 were married to other people. If I remember the story, Carolyn initially got suspended, and I believe got fired from her gig at FSW as a result of the scandal. Carolyn & Derek also got divorced as well...

It was a big deal. Yes, she was a nothing but she was an aspiring reporter at Comcast. They see this from somebody that hasn't even made it with them? C'mon. The fact that she was a nobody made it easier for them to fire her. She can't fight it. She's got no money to sue. No, I don't think she thought it was wrong. That's clear. But she should have. There should have been a trigger in her brain telling her so. Smart people have that. If she was serious about being a reporter she wouldn't have done this. It's clear she persued him. He wasn't looking for a Jen Jen. There are several women reporters in this country and you know, you don't hear many stories of them dating players. There are a few, but I'd say 90% don't. Most know better. She should have too. Another aspect is the Blackhawks own 20% of Comcast Sports Net. She put herself, Comcast and the Blackhawks in a compromising position.

Somebody said that "The Danny Mac Show" said she was banned from some clubhouses. I mean, she really has no purpose to be there other than to hang with players. She learned from North that being in the media is about hanging with players, making friends with important people and trying to hustle everybody. He's been a horrible influence on her. But he made his millions before people got wise to him. She got caught before she made big money.

Kinda sounds like they may have wanted to get rid of her, and were looking for any good reason to do so. Her interaction with a player, and the publicity about it, gave them a handy excuse to lose some dead weight.

Probably. Rodeo's Comcast source said she was a "pain in the ass". After the "Monsters" show got cancelled it seems like they did a nice thing for her by kind of making up a job for her. She should have appreciated that more than she did.

Beardown,
I have always been a critic of this broad since day_1. BIG deal, she is hot,50 million girls just like her. Kissing North's ass and doing who the hell knows what with him. Obviously trying to "shnoogle" her way into a rich bitch lifestyle, whether it means hooking up with a hockey player,radio/media guy, whatever. Hopefully she is done in this town.

For the record, I once kind of felt bad for Jen in a sense. I felt bad for some of the jokes and cheap shots thrown her way. I never really believed some of the things said of her. I just thought she was in over her head from the beginning and didn't know how to present or handle herself. Can't really blame her for taking advantage of North liking her. Who wouldn't?

With this recent event, I've realized she's more shrewd and cunning than I thought. So she deserves ridicule and criticism for this one.

She's not very bright. She never realized the good fortune she had. While she was never "broadcasting material", she could have parlayed this "Mike North" break into something good for herself. It could have been media production or a role with a sports team in some capacity. She had connections through North to have a career in either. Instead, she treated this break as a "social opportunity". How can I get an athlete boyfriend? How can I get into the cool clubs and a-list parties? How can I meet celebrities and/or rich and important people? Do people notice me in the stands at sporting events? That's how she looked at this things.

Now, does she take the Mike North attitude and say "I was wronged", or has she been humbled by this and realizes she had the wrong attitue and made mistakes? I'm guessing the former.

It's a shame. I was rooting for this cheerleader from Lybertyville and her "rags to riches" story.

Are any of you saying that if you were in her position and had a chance to nail Maria Sharapova, you'd consider all the ramifications that sweet Russian pussy would have on your career? Not to mention, maybe she really likes Boynton.

No. I'm not an insider. I'm a regular citizen like the rest of you. I don't know anybody in Chicago media. Good Lord willing, I never will. They scare me. If I saw a media person walking my direction, I'd cross the street.

If there was a Boers & bernstein remote in my backyard, I'd close the blinds.

Hot Jen-Jen lesbo action? Not that I'm a good judge of men's attraciveness, but I'd think Boynton is nowhere close to being in the same league as Sharapova looks-wise. Plus Sharapova made $25 million this year, Boynton, not so much.

Does Jen-Jen (or did) have permission to enter lockerrooms while working for Comcast?
Maybe she did some "comparitive shopping".

While I don't want to dance on anyones grave for losing their job, I just never got her act. I never saw what value she added to anything. The firing (IMO) may be the sum of a whole bunch of little things over time. Maybe the Hawks thing was the straw.

In the comments section:

"She knows nothing about sports and may be the only human alive dumber than Mike North himself."

Now wait a minute. Another broad actually has been married to North for about 30 years.

This is just rich...the best part is the paragraph I highlighted...

Quote:
Patterson parts ways with Score, will follow 'Pappy'

With no kids of his own, former WSCR 670-AM personality Mike North has always viewed the young people he's helped get started in the business as his "kids."

But with far more "sons" than "daughters" in his brood, North has a particularly soft spot for producer Jen Patterson, whose rags to riches story also happens to mirror his own. Talk about Daddy's little girl.

Or in this case, "Pappy's" little girl.

Once a hot-dog stand owner, North met Patterson when she was a waitress at Gibsons Steakhouse on Rush Street in Chicago. A student at Columbia College, she served him at the bar and then worked up the courage to ask him if she could do a video interview with him for one of her classes.

"I think she got an 'A' on it," North laughed. "She came to the office. She was very professional. She wore a suit, she brought in all of her own equipment. She had told me that she was trying to get an internship at another station and that it wasn't going very well. So I told her that we should see if I could get her an internship at the Score."

Patterson quickly went from North's intern to an associate producer and then his executive producer in about four years. She earned the reputation as one of the hardest working producers in the business.

"She was going to ballgames when she didn't have to; she was out doing appearances, helping out, bringing in endorsements. She was outhustling everyone at the place," North said. "And not just the producers on my show, but all the other producers, too. And they have pretty good producers over there (at the Score).

"Eventually, I made her my executive producer, and from there she became what she is today, and that is, I believe, the best sports producer in the country. By far."

And yet, Patterson's career at the Score is over. Just like North's.

When the Score and North parted ways after more than 16 years last month, reportedly over a contract dispute, the 26-year-old Patterson was at a crossroads.

She said she still had a job at the Score but that her role would be significantly diminished. Not only was she a producer for North, she also was given an on-air role as his news and weather person.

Patterson says the new job she was offered was as the station's booker. In other words, her job would be to book guests for all of the Score's shows.

"So basically, after all the things I did for the station, they just wanted me to use my femininity to go to the ballparks to get players to come on the shows," said Patterson, a 1999 Libertyville High School graduate who was a cheerleader and played on the school's volleyball team. "I wouldn't be producing, wouldn't be on air, anything like that. I took it as kind of an insult. And I think my Rolodex alone was worth more than what they were offering me.

"I decided to take my vacation time to think about it."

Patterson returned earlier this week rested, relaxed and ready to resign. She formally informed the Score of her resignation on Monday. At the time, she was the only woman on air or in production at the Score.

"We're going to miss Jen," said Score program director Mitch Rosen. "She did a great job and we really liked her. She was a great employee. We wanted her to stay, but she decided it was best to leave, and I respect that."

Of course, Patterson's decision was made easier by the fact that North is eager to keep her as part of his staff. And North says that, while he doesn't yet have anything in writing, he has three to four legitimate opportunities before him that would put him back on the airwaves.

"It was hard leaving the Score," Patterson said. "But I thought about it and weighed it, and it was the best thing for me.

"I also wanted to be loyal to Mike. Mike gave me my opportunity. And I'm so appreciative of that. When people meet Mike, they find out that he's such a nice guy, and he's been so nice to me."

North says that wasn't hard.

"I love the girl like she's my daughter," North said of Patterson. "She's family to me."
