Krazy, its sad but its certainly not terribly uncommon for a guy in his 50s to simply drop dead of a heart attack/natural causes. That is probably the case with ol' Norm.

It becomes less uncommon with taller people, due to the strain on their heart to pump blood the longer distance through their limbs, etc. Hence the circulation issues that also often arise.

Then why not just say so? Nearly every report of his death ended with the line "An autopsy is set for friday to determine the cause of death" but nothing was ever reported after that. Just strange, that's all...
