I'm sure Sandberg wasn't asking for big money. What a joke.

Quade DID win as a Cubs manager & has tons of expierience. I think he will do fine. He knows all about the Cubs, too. He is from Mount Prospect, just like Lee Dewyse!

Lou Piniella
Dusty Baker
Don Baylor

I don't get it.

I think this just proves that the Girardi rumors were bullshit, which I called a few weeks ago.

Which rumors? The rumors that the Cubs were interested or Girardi?

If the Cubs were never interested then what have they been doing? It has to mean Girardi said "forget it" - which seems weird because you'd think he'd be busy right now.

Maybe the Yanks gave him some reassurance.

I was talking about the rumors that Girardi would be interested in coming here. That kind of move would make zero sense for him. This club won't even sniff the playoffs for at least 2-3 more seasons, so why would the defending world series champion manager in the biggest market sign on for a re-building project?

Apparently you can't interview people without giving them the job or you leave them twisting.

I'm just happy it's not Sandberg.

Yeah, I could see twisting if they waited until after the WS or something, but not in this case. Sandberg may be good at some point. The verdict is still out. I would not mind seeing him as manager in the future if he continues to show managerial progress not only in the minors, but also as a coach in the bigs. I think he can do it...just not now.

This thread makes my brain hurt. Does anyone think that anyone is managing this pile of suck to the playoffs in the next two years? I don't. Wake me up when ther is a press conference to fire Hendry.

This hire works for me. Keep the guy that has been working with the younger
kids and if things don't work out after 2 years, you probably really haven't lost
much. I highly doubt they are going to go out and get some big name free agents
so they'll just let some of the contracts expire and start over again in 2012.
Not an exciting hire but it makes some sense I guess. I ignored the Cubs most
of this season, so what is another year or two? I am willing to give the guy a
chance.

So why not let Sandberg learn the ropes then instead of this minor league clown?

You realize that Quade has more minor league AND major league coaching experience than Sandberg, right?

Now Sandberg, with all of his effort and time and hard work in the minors is going to wind up taking a job with another team and be successful.

U would think that ricketts would know that the big bull Hendry would run another popular guy out of town just like Matt Murton.

Not necessarily talking about paying big money for a manager. I'm saying that it's obvious Ricketts will not spend money on improving the team.

This is exactly what I was going to say. If Sandberg moves on to another organization
and does well, I would be happy to eat my words. I think you'll see if Sandberg is given
a job at the major league level next year he is going to get outcoached more times than
not. 3 years at the minor league level and never managing in any capacity in the big
show is what would have me a little concerned with him.

Dempster telling Waddle and Silvy that this is a great hire. Lol, Dempster taking the company line. Sandberg sounds like he is done with the Cub. Good for him, tell Hendry to fuck off. Hendry is a pussy for not wanting to talk to Joe.
