I enjoyed Whippin' Boy's time at the Score, I wish him luck as the third wheel on the Eric and Kathy Show.

Is he replacing both Suppelsa and the knocked up traffic broad?

Paruch was a good dude. He was bad filling in for Murph, but since then has been decent on the weekends.

Grid, Brian "The Whipping Boy" Paruch has indeed replaced Mark Suppelsa as "The Eric & Kathy Show's" newsman on 101.9 The Mix weekday mornings. Suppelsa actually replaced another newsman, Barry Keefe, who retired a couple years ago after Barry worked 3 decades at the Bonneville-owned adult contemporary outlet.

When Suppelsa joined WTMX, he was actually in-between anchoring jobs. He raised quite a few eyebrows when he left his principal anchor gig at FOX32 and joined The Mix initially to stay active in the market. He continued to do "E & K" in addition to his current anchor gig on CW9's 5 & 9p newscast weeknights, but when WGN hired an investigative producer that worked with Mark elsewhere, he decided to leave Eric Ferguson, Kathy Hart & traffic girl Melissa McGurren and devote full time to his WGN News duties. Interestingly enough, Paruch was Suppelsa's #1 backup when Mark needed time off of the Mix morning show and is no stranger to the faster pace of morning drive. I wonder if his Mix bosses offered more $$$$ than what 670 The SCORE offered, despite solid reviews from both of his employers...

Northside, I tend to think Paruch couldn't pass it up if The Mix offered more $$$$ than The SCORE...

Considering what Eric and Kathy make, if Brian was able to get just 10% of that I'm sure it made the decision really easy.

I'm just sad that the new Lady Jane's commercials with Mark Grote don't have the same bang as THATS RIGHT BRIAN PARUCH

As far as I know, Eric & Kathy earn over $1.5 million a year...Unlike other morning show hosts in this town, they have the ratings to back up their salaries.

Maybe SHARK knows the answer..

What's the story behind his two different nicknames? I've always wondered.

While I believe "Boers & Bernstein", Terry in particular, started referring to Paruch as "The King" when he did "Scoreboard Updates", he's been "Whipping Boy" or "Whip" dating back to when he was on the FM side in the '90s with Mancow, Pete McMurray, Brooke Hunter & Jill Egan to name a few...In my opinion, he'll always be "Whipping Boy" or "Whip"...

Speaking of that, I flipped on AM1000 today and heard Chet doing a horrid SportsClips commercial....eyuk!!!

Paruch is a good example of a decent, vanilla sports talk host. He's not a spazzy high energy guy, but he also isn't a monotone stats dork....he did fine on The Score, and I just hope that he's half as handsome as middle-aged women think Suppelsa is ;)
