Why do you say that?
He's Phil Rogers on a national level. His columns are crap. His writing style sucks. He writes for ESPN (that alone dumbs down everything people do).
Have you read this particular column?

You need to work on your use of the quote function before I read the links you post

I have never understood why the quote function is so hard for people to get on here.

reading that column and his support for Sandberg made me feel good and gave me a warm fuzzy inside, so he has a great writing style

This is flat out wrong. They dumb many things down, and sanitize the content to avoid controversy (other than the OTL articles). This practice is a disservice to their readers.

ESPN gives the facts, and gives more facts than anybody
and they are unbiased

they were the answer to local market spinjobs

their job is not to stir controversy...people want peace, not to argue about abortion and similar topics that really have no answer...it's just sports...in fact, they always spiral shit outta control instead of sticking to the game itself

when I watch mlb network, nfl network, nbatv, they are so pleasant to watch becuase they stay out of the bullshit...if u wanna call anything sanitized, those are it, and thats a good thing

Now you can understand why all of us old fools loved Jack Brickhouse.......telling us on TV if we were driving around the Great South Side of Chicago to stop in and see most of Game one and all of Game two of the Sunday Doubleheader with the Washington Senators....of course nobody had a TV in their car in 1964 and I don't know who was cruising Halsted Street near 31st, but it was just so damned HOOTERVILLE CLASSIC.....Not like these SERIOUS analysts all over ESPN!!!!!!

Well what you have to realize is, in the context of managing a game, Ryne Sandberg was simply not even a hall of fame player. Now a player managing a game, and a manager managing players, can be two different things. But the argument can still be made that if you manage a game, as a manager, you have more players to work with than if, say, you are a player managing a game, as a player, and all you are managing is yourself. If you play second base at a sub par level, and still get into the Hall of Fame somehow, it is easily believable and credible that you will be exposed as a low level manager of the game--as a player. As a manager, you can also be exposed as Ryne Sandberg most likely will if he gets the chance to manage a Major League baseball team.

Not to say that he didn't belong on a Major League Baseball team as a player, even if he could not manage a game like a player. When I was a player, for the Machine, we were all managers. We managed to win a few World Series. When I was at the plate, I managed to get on base. When I played second base, I managed to turn the double play. Easily. It was not really a challenge; it was manageable.

If Ryne Sandberg thinks that he can manage a game, as a manager, the same way he manages the field as a player, he has to realize that a ball club is a lot more responsibility, and possibly one he cannot handle. As a player or a manager, he is not fit for the Hall of Fame regardless.
