This is spot on, except I wouldn't discount the gay possibility.

We all know he "fronts" about everything. But one recurring theme on the show that hasn't received mention on this thread is how he often inserts a "dude's" perspective on amorous (heterosexual) relationships.

Aside from the fact that the topic is irrelevant for sports talk (which is why so many of us object to his show), the way he constructs male-female relationships is so far from reality and parroting of "men are from mars, women are from venus" stereotypes and platitudes that it is clear that he never has had a meaningful relationship with a woman.

I happened to turn on the radio a couple of nights ago and he was talking some sort of nonsense about "Sweetest Day" or some crap. I quickly turned some music on, so I don't know what transpired.

But the devolution into this talk about his "girl" or "honeys" is exactly how many closeted people awkwardly try to force themselves into personifying the norms of heterosexual relationships. It is like they need to "perform" as a heterosexual, but really can't pull it off because it is so foreign to them so they just sound stupid.

The fact that this type of prattle takes up so much time on his show suggests, to me, that Larry's sexuality is really something he is struggling with. He feels that if he can literally broadcast a fiction about being straight to the world over a 50,000 watt station, it will silence the urge in him to bring LoHo to the Down Low.

In this day and age it is pathetic and sad that he has to remain closeted, but I guess I can understand it given the meat-headedness that permeates his line of work.

I'm thinking Laurence is getting pretty good ratings lately. Just judging from the amount of "I think you are great" guys who call in coupled with the people who seem to hate his guts but listen very closely to every story he tells. (Hi Seaward!!!!)

The show is good. It's entertaining. If he were doing a bit, it wouldn't be funny at all. It's great because he is serious about all this stuff.

Right...

Larry is picturing a dude listening to the elevator story like "HAHAHAH yeah I feel ya Laurence!! Sometimes you gotta bump a motherfucker"

So, because you think a show is lame, you are going to resort to lame tactics? O....k.... Why not just ignore it's existance?

He doesn't really bother me the same way he does others, I guess. If it comes to that point, no one will know. It'll just happen...

You think Holmes is a dork, yet you propose a Friday night phone prank to a radio show?

I have the same problem. You should see the double takes I get when I try to be Sam Jackson's "Pulp Fiction" character in public.

Everybody here brings up good points. Maybe Mitch should realize this and not put him on the air as a talk show host while he figures out all of his issues. It's annoying and uncomfortable to the listener. Mitch needs to save Larry from himself. It's also bad for the station to have him rep you. They can have him do updates and he can still put mics in front of Bears players.

You put him on the air for 4 hours and the listeners get many moments where they say "Take an easy champ, why don't you stop talking for a little bit?"

If I ever see Panther in an elevator, he's gettin' a shoulder bump and I'll be ready for whatever consequences that would bring about.

Not really talking about the night, per se. More of the desire to prank a radio show you don't like.

I'd put that right up there with comic book talk on a sports radio show...

Right. Laurence is dorky. He doesn't think he is and it makes the show quite enjoyable.

That was a great hour of radio. LoHo now not only has people sitting in their cars all night listening to the show, he literally has people pulling his car over on the street to tell him how great his show is.

I think THE PEOPLE'S HOUR COLON WE DO WHAT WE WANT PODCAST will be my standard listen for the drive home from now on.

Good. He had it coming then. I don't think Larry would have pushed a black guy had he done the same thing to him.
