Is he a luxury, Jerry Angelo? Yes.

Has he been effective? Yes.

Signing Peppers prevented the Bears from spending money on positions that needed improvement a lot more than DT. I was against the Bears signing Peppers before they signed him & I believe by seasons end his signing will be generally regarded as another in a long list of Jerry & Lovie blinders.

The Bears defense was 26th in the NFL in Passer Efficiency Rating against last year.

This year they are 2nd.

Biggest differences - Urlacher and Peppers.

In 2007 and 2008 with Urlacher, they were 19th and 10th.

Now that you have proven wrong that Peppers has been bad this year, now you are backtracking and saying they shouldn't have signed him and spent the money elsewhere. That's not what this discussion is about. It's about whether or not Peppers has been bad.

Didn't the Giants run for almost 200 yards against the Bears? And didn't Ryan Torain run for like 125 yards yesterday?? I believe the Seahawks also ran for over 100 yards against the Bears, too.

Kirk, if you want to talk about money spent on free agents, start a different thread. This discussion is about how bad you think Peppers has been. Fact he, is has NOT been bad. There have been plays and stats posted in this very thread that PROVE he has been good, and you are still saying he is a dissapointment. He is not a dissapointment. And you think I'm doing a bit? C'mon man, you honestly cannot be this fucking stupid can you??

4th in the league in Rushing defense. 89.3 yds per game.

To be honest,Peppers didn't do shit yesterday. Overall,I have seen him disrupting plays, causing panic (Illegal Procedures) & overall helping this team. He has taken games
off here and there. Last week he got owned against some no-name.

Your stat hardly means no one has been able to run against the Bears all year. I've just shown you at least two instances (Giants, Redskins) where teams have run successfully against them, although I would say Seattle was able to do so to some degree as well.

Youre correct. My statement was wrong, although I do have to say thru 5 games, they shut down 4 of the 5.

Do you think Peppers cant stop the run to save his life?

No, that's silly. But he disappeared against Seattle and wasn't very good yesterday, either.

Actually, seeing guys like Okung and Williams perform these last two weeks makes me wish we had a Tackle that was a high first round draft pick on our offensive line.

One like Ryan Clady that goes to Pro Bowls.

Peppers is good enough to have a really good season while disappearing in games.

That's not why he's getting all that money though.

He hasn't played bad this season but he has been inconsistent.

Peppers has had a reputation as a poor run defender throughout his career. This was no secret in Carolina & isnt a secret now.

Poor Run Defender meant something in 1989. It's all about passing nowadays and stopping it.

Here is my original post in this thread from earlier today:

As I wrote right after the Bears wasted $40 million guaranteed on Peppers...he is a huge waste of money on this team. This team needs help everywhere so signing a major free agent to a big dollar contract is just stupid.
Peppers has a whopping 9 tackles, 4 assisted tackles, & 2 sacks in 7 games...7 GAMES! He hasn't showed up in 2 weeks.
Lets hope these fuckers lose every game & everyone gets fired.

( Actually, these were his stats through 6 games. Add 2 tackles & 1 assist from game 7.)

If they weren't sure about Forte, they should have just cut him loose, signed Taylor, and moved on. Or, at least do what I hope they'll do now, which is play Taylor and throw Forte in a few times to give him a rest.

I'd be fine with the 2 backs if the used them and I'd be fine with Taylor as the starter. They need to be balanced.

I'd like to see them replace Manu with Clark.
