So the Sox could have had Stanton from the Marlins in exchange for Guillen. Shit that would have been nice. Decent managers are not that difficult to find. They could have probably just promoted Cora.

This is a move the Sox should have made whether they liked Ozzie or not. Stanton would have allowed them a lot of flexibility.

So it looks like the Sox called Ozzie's bluff and Ozzie completely bitched out. No extension, no raise, just a pat on the head. Tough guy Ozzie folded like a card table.

I'm just going to dismiss this rumor because if I thought it was actually a posiibility I'd have to pick up my monitor and slam it on my head. I'd pack Ozzie's bags and drive him to the airport. Stanton is a future MVP.

I like the way Ozzie can keep a team loose, I like the fact that his players love to play for him. However, I question his in game moves and the setting of his day-to-day line-up. That being said, I'd had done everything possible to trade for Stanton. I'd trade any manager for a future twenty something year old stud, case closed.

Even if he was the best manager in the world you can't compare the impact of a manager to that of a good prospect.

Kenny's already acknowledged this as true. Like Dolphin noted, Ozzie had his bluff called & he folded.

This will be an odd winter

Kenny acknowleged the Marlins asked for permission to talk to Ozzie but the part they were willing to trade Mike Stanton is simply rumor. If that offer was made Kenny would have fought me to pack Ozzie's bags and drive him to the airport.

Why in the hell would the Marlins do that?

Thats one of the dumbest ideas ever.

If thats true the Cubs should offer Quade for Bryce Harper

I'd trade Ozzie for an above average everyday player.

Managers are easy to replace.

Assuming that isn't a joke, Google Stanton. He is one of the best prospects in all of baseball.

With all the shit Ozzie stirred up this season, this would have been done in a nanosecond if this was true....at least on Kenny's end....and Reinsdouche may not have stopped him....FINALLY.
I don't believe this rumor.

IF this is true and it didn't get done, White Sox fans should be livid. Not accepting this deal is Cubs front office stuff. Stanton is going to be a great player, and this gives you the clean break from the Ozzie stuff.

The Marlins did not discuss an Ozzie-Stanton trade with the White Sox, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post.

According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, rumored conversations about a swap of Mike Stanton for White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen "never happened."

Enough of this nonsense.

Well, maybe because I'm a Cubs fan, but this move wouldn't have been an absolute slam dunk for me if it really were available. Ozzie is a World Series winning manager who since 05' posted two 90+ win seasons and two 88+ win seasons.

Prospects are just that prospects. So were Pie/Paterson et al.

I agree GD that decent managers are a dime a dozen, but I think Ozzie is definitely better than decent.

I don't believe this Stanton bit until the Sox and/or Marlins come out and say its true.

In 100 games for the major league Florida Marlins 20 yr old Mike Stanton hit .259/.326/.507/.833 with 22 home runs and 21 doubles. Please do not compare him to Corey Patterson or Felix Pie.

and what's the deal with Cub fans always comparing players to their failed prospects?? Mike Stanton is the next Patterson/Pie. Every young hard throwing pitcher is the next Prior/Wood. Jason Heyward is the next Muffy Roads. If these guys couldn't succeed no one can?? I don't get it.....

Can we trade the guy who does the grilled onions in the lower bowl behind home plate for Carl Everett?
