PREMISE: A tournament consisting of one-on-one debates on topics ranging from sports, pop culture, politics, and others.

START: November 1, 2010

ELIGIBILITY: All CSFMB members with 1000 posts or more.

RULES: Participants in the tournament will be randomly assigned a seed prior to the first match. Matches will be one-on-one and take place within a topic-specific thread to be created. Topics for each match will be chosen by the Tournament Director at random from iDebate.org. Participants will be assigned to defend or oppose the topic statement based on the flip of a coin. Debate structure will begin with defending opening statement, followed by opposition's opening statement. Each participant will then rebut the defending/opposition statement. Finally, each side will offer a conclusion. No new information can be presented in the conclusion. The debate is concluded after each participant finishes each stage of the debate. All statements must be in the participant's own words (no copy/pasting). All substantial facts must be supported with linked citations (Wikipedia is NOT an acceptable source).

JUDGING: All debate threads will be Polls. All CSFMB members will vote for each winner. Tournament Director will have final decision in the event of a tie. All Director decisions are final.

PRIZE: Tournament winner will receive a CSFMB t-shirt or a cash prize equal to that amount (your choice).

CRETIN BANTER: Encourged and expected. Besides, there is no way to control it.

The issue will be to have the obvious "usual suspects" want to participate.

Besides, if you ask many of them, they will already tell you they are the best on the board.

I'm down with nominating participants, just as long as they agree to actually partake.

Since I was brought up I'll say that I'm not really interested. It sounds interesting but I've spent too much time on the board lately as it is. I actually decided yesterday to do my best to stay away from long posts that I make 10+ responses to. It was funny to see this post today then. It's like the board is trying to taunt me.

I just hope that the finals is whistler vs. cubbiegirlshamus.
