If you watch one new tv show this fall it better be The Walking Dead which will premiere Halloween on AMC.

Based on what is without a doubt the greatest comic book in circulation over the past decade this is going to be an amazing show. Apparently AMC agrees because they just decided to buy a second season even though the show hasn't even debuted yet.

At first look its a zombie show, but really its a show about the survivors and how they cope with the zombies and moreso the other survivors.

http://www.amctv.com/originals/The-Walking-Dead/

Its going to be epic.

Wow. Actually looks pretty bad ass. I hope you don't have to read the comics to have the show make complete sense

I doubt it. I looks like they are going to follow the comic down to the letter so all new fans should be able to keep up no problem.

That said, I do highly recommend the comic, its awesome.

Bump cause its getting close!!!!!

Seriously, if you don't watch this show you're an idiot...its gonna be that good!

You should really consider buying the graphic novels and reading them first though, best running comic book on the market today.

Super excited for this show. The Halloween premiere is perfect too. Can't wait.

The only thing that pisses me off is that AMC isn't in HD on Directv and since I'm an HD snob that means I gotta spend $30 to get a season pass on itunes. And to top it off you can't get the show on itunes till the next day :(

These.

Great show, and it appears to be done correctly, so far.

How many volumes in the graphnov? I knew about them but hadn't looked into it any further.

Show was really good. Haven't read the graphic novel so I didn't know what to expect. It was a pleasant surprise.

Although the kill shot on the gurl zombie was rough. A new show to catch. Thank God for DVR.

It really offered nothing unique or new from the more recent zombie movies: hero goes through some trauma that knocks him out and then wakes up in an empty hospital post apocalypse. I liked it but it was straight out of 28 Days Later.

I'm wondering about the Kevin Bacon looking zombie who got off the bus at the end. They focused on him getting off the bus and then they focused on him again before the sheriff closed the lid on the tank. I think there was also some focus on him in the commercials. I imagine he will be playing more of a role in this than normal zombie.

I figure the zombie mother/wife is going to play a role as well. She didn't look as hagard as the rest of the zombies and seemed to be muttering something to herself...and of course her husband refused to kill her.

I don't think I'd go back to Atlanta if it was the last safe place on earth.

Not sure how many volumes, but I believe the comic is up to somwhere around issue 70 now. Each volume of the graphic novel probably has 6 issues in it unless you buy the hardcover omnibus editions. I think there are 3-4 of those out there.

I highly recommend it, its an amazing read.

Give it some more time, it will start to forge its own path in the zombie genre as the story gets going.

Do they ever reveal what was the apocolyptic event? It was more than a little strange that it wouldn't have been the first question he asked the father and son.

It seems like they are portraying these zombies as having some consciousness. In the gun to the head kills, the zombies don't appear to have any problem with the person blowing them away and actually seem to welcome it. In the rifle kills, the zombies may be attracted to the sound but they also seem to want to be the next target.

I was listening to Mancow the other day and he had the producer of the show on and asked him the same question. The producer mentioned that they aren't planning on revealing what caused the event since basically whatever the event was, already happened so no point about worrying about it.

Thought that was strange. I DVR'd it last night, looking forward to getting home from work today to watch.

I am a big fan of zombie movies and I like the fact that they are taking a chance on a big budget TV series. AMC has a good track record of original series, so hopefully this will live up to my expectations.

Nope, they never reveal how it happened, at least they didn't in the comic book. Maybe they will eventually if they ever run into someone who knows.

I think you're reading too much into how the zombies act. In the books, they have no level of consciousness, they just walk around looking to eat people. They do have the potential to form themselves into herds though, but I don't know if we'll see much of that the first season.

I've read the first four books (48 issues or so) and they haven't given an explanation yet. The characters don't even think about it that much.

Just watched it.
It wasnt great but it has potential. I wasnt thrilled with the 28 Days Later rip off but I am glad that the zombies in this one arent super fast/strong. Hopefully it gets better now that the backstory has been laid out.

Watched it last night. It was great, just like i assumed it would be. But, I can see how some people might find it a little slow. But don't worry, it will pick up now that he's in Atlanta. It sounds like the entire first season will take place in Atlanta which is a little weird cause so much more has happened with the series since that. Hopefully they will only spend half the season in Atlanta and move onto the farm for the second half.

What I'm really looking forward to is season 2 which I assume will take place at the prison and introduce some great characters like Michonne and the Governor. My guess is season 1 will end with a shot of the survivors stumbling upon the prison.
