Further proof that the television rating system is f'd up. From the Associated Press (via Yahoo):

Top 5
Wed Jan 3, 9:21 AM ET

TELEVISION

1. "NFL Postgame Show," CBS.

2. "Deal or No Deal" (Monday), NBC.

3. "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," CBS.

4. "Identity," NBC.

5. "CSI: Miami," CBS.

(From Nielsen Media Research)

I don't know exactly how the ratings system works, but I don't know how a post-game show can be the highest rated program on broadcast television. Does that mean that more people are tuning into the post-game show than the actual game? CSI is generally the highest rated show on TV in any given week, and I'm supposed to believe that more people tuned into a postgame show?

I thought it was funny at first, but now I'm a little perplexed by it...I need to get a life.

Even more disturbing is the high ratings of Deal or no Deal.

Maybe peeps were tuning in to watch 60 Minutes and get caught in the overrun of football.

I hate Deal or no Deal, but love that Vas or no Vas.

I don't know the specifics of it, but since it was the last day of the regular season, if you watched a game and it finishes early, and they switch you to another game, that rating from those people that had the early finish game goes to the postgame show and not the game. So if you were watching Ravens-Bills, it finishes and you get sent to Colts-Dolphins, then those people that got sent to it and watched it would actually get posted to the postgame show and not Colts-Dolphins. I heard it from Mike Francesca on the Mike and the Mad Dog once, because the early game ratings are higher than they should be, but it's a trick they use.
