So the Celtics beat the Heat on opening night.

The Cavs then beat the Celtics last night.

Therefore: Cavs > Celtics > Heat

The championship trophy is coming to Cleveland this year. The Ramon Sessions era begins now.

This is probably the discussion taking place on Clevland sports talk radio right now. That and Peyton Hillis being the greatest Browns running back since Jim Brown...

Well the Saints are the defending Super Bowl champs and Cleveland beat them handily so that means that this time next year Cleveland will be celebrating basketball and football championhips.....Quite naturally

one of my sports dreams is for the cavs to meet the heat in the playoffs, and the cavs beat them in game 7 to advance. just because i know lebron will be a really sore loser. then cavs fans can hold signs saying "What should you do?"

So is Douchebag officially in charge of watching Cavs basketball? Because I'm not interested. I'm officially naming myself in charge of Bucks basketball (in Keeping Score's absence). I will watch every game and report on Brandon Jennings' awesomeness.

Aren't you too busy watching the inevitable annual collapse of the Dallas Mavericks?

I think, therefore I am...mocked. I was careful to list the Cavs as a very dark horse, but I'll take credit for it.

Here come the Bulls injuries-Noah's getting played too many hard minutes, Derrick has turf toe and if you think Boozer's back in three weeks at full strength and that he won't get injured again, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Here's your next foolish basketball opinion-Anderson Varejao could be as good as Joakim Noah given enough playing time and strength training. I don't know that that will ever happen, but I think it could. To me, they're the same mold of player, except I think Anderson has a better looking jumper.

I picked the Cavs to make the playoffs, I wish I would have put some money down on it.

The Warriors need their own thread. I would have thought Bagels would have been all over that by now.

i am really enjoying their team this year. see the other thread where i boldly predict they'll make the playoffs

I wish they'd utilize Biedrins and Lee inside more, but it's clearly Curry & Ellis' team

FavreFan's guy is out for the season. I'm officially off the Cavs will make the playoffs train. They had a decent start, but this team has lacked any kind of fire since the first 10 games of the season.

Quote:
Cavs' Anderson Varejao out for season

CLEVELAND -- The losses won't stop for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Scrappy, steady center Anderson Varejao is done for the season with a torn ankle tendon that will require surgery, another major blow to the bottoming-out Cavs, who are not close to recovering after star LeBron James left as a free agent last summer.

"It's a big blow," first-year coach Byron Scott said in Phoenix before the Cavaliers played the Suns. "Arguably, he's been our best player."

Varejao got hurt while running in practice on Thursday as the Cavs prepared for a five-game road trip. He was placed in a walking boot and traveled with the team. He missed Friday's game against Golden State as team doctors waited for his injury to "calm down."

On Sunday, he underwent a second MRI in Phoenix that revealed "a complete tear of the peroneus longus in the midfoot of the right ankle and foot."

Varejao's injury will likely require surgery. After a stop in Los Angeles to see family, he will return to Cleveland for further treatment and evaluation.

Scott said Varejao was injured when he was running up and down the court during a simple drill.

"He was just running," Scott said. "Then he planted, touched the line and ran to the other end. And then he just buckled.

"I feel terrible because of the way he's been playing."

It's more devastating news for the Cavs, who dropped their 10th straight on Sunday night, 108-100 to the Suns and have lost 20 of 21. Varejao, averaging a team-best 9.7 rebounds and 9.1 points, is also the team's best interior defender and provides constant energy with his hustle.

Scott has tried to stay optimistic amid the Cavs' mounting losses and injuries. The team is also without guard Daniel "Boobie" Gibson (ankle) and forward Leon Powe (knee surgery) on the trip and forwards Anthony Parker (back) and Joey Graham (leg) have been slowed by injuries.

At 8-28, the Cavs have the worst record in the Eastern Conference. With James, they had the league's best regular-season record the past two years.

everyone should take a flop today for our fallen homey. his perpetual serenade with the hardwood floors around the league will surely be missed.

The Cavs weren't exactly lighting it up prior to this. I believe that he called them a dark horse to win the division. They are currently the worst team in the whole league record wise.

they're not worse than Washington, Detroit, New Jersey or Toronto at full strength. But the injuries I predicted for the Bulls are happening to them.

Notice Byron Scott sez Anderson is his best player. He is correct. He's Joakim Noah's brother. Only somehow Noah has a better jumper and more mass.
