Like I've been saying. Sandberg is the bitch here who gave the Cubs an ultimatum and they called his bluff.

No. Jim Hendry is the bitch here. He has zero people skills. Now it comes out that he never even talked to Sandberg & most of the feedback that Ryne got came from the media. Hendry doesnt even have the balls to talk to Sandberg man to man. Not once has Sandberg whined or complained. He should have ripped Hendry a new asshole after the way Hendry handled this situation. But this is all Ricketts fault because he doesn't have a clue what to do or who to hire. The Hendry - Quade era is a fucking joke.

You mean other than interviewing him for the job? Yes Hendry sucks. Fire him. Sandberg looks really childish here as well

So he interviews Sandberg then doesn't have another conversation with him? What a pussy. It is Jim Hendry who is childish.
What exactly has Sandberg said or done that you consider childish?

When I changed jobs about 3 years ago, one of the company's I interviewed with did not call me back. Was that recruiter a pussy also?

No one here would argue that Hendry is a good GM, but Sandberg leaving is not his fault. Why should he automatically get the job??? Because he 'toiled' for 3 years in the minors, give me a break. They didnt think he was a good fit and he got pissed because he is a Cubs' legend. Now he is taking his ball and going home, who cares? He was a great player that never won a goddamn thing, piss off and go manage another farm system team. I have enough to worry about being a Cubs fan without worrying about former 'legends' getting their panties in a twist. None of these fucking legends won a thing, including Mr Cub himself. Stop living in the fucking past!!!!!

The fact that people think that Sandberg is owed anything is ridiculous. First, these ungrateful Cubs GAVE him a job to manage in the minors. Even more shockingly, the PROMOTED him multiple times up the various levels. Finally, the had the balls to interview him for a MAJOR LEAGUE job after 3 years of managing experience. After Sandberg didn't get the job, they even offered him his old job back.

The Cubs do plenty to bitch about. The way they handled Ryne is not one of them.

My favorite gripe about the Sandberg thing is that he would put butts in seats. That makes me  everytime I hear it.

Yeah the manager of the team is going to get me to come out and buy tickets. At this point I am all for tearing down Wrigley and moving the team out of Wrigleyville and starting fresh with a whole new location and new attitude. No more frat party, loveable loser crap. Time to put on their big boy pants.

There was even some dumbass that called the Mac show today, and he started out his call with "if they hired Sandberg, people would show up to watch him manage"

I've been saying this for years. I don't know about leaving wrigleyville but id definitely like to see the team in a new stadium

I might agree with this if the Cubs had hired Girardi or Larussa. Instead they hired a career journeyman coach who not one other team wanted. Mike fucking Quade??? Really???

I'm not sure why you are blaming Ryno, Ernie & other Cubs legends for never winning a championship. It wasnt their fault they didn't win.

Honestly, I have tried to entertain both the idea that Hendry screwed Sandberg and the opposite where Sandberg wasn't the right guy for the job and he got all but hurt and took his ball and went somewhere else. Without being present for the meetings between Hendry and Sandberg I have no idea who wins this pissing match.

It really doesn't matter either because Quade, Sandberg and Listach all basically accomplished the same shit in the minor leagues, some just did it for a few more years. All this position right now calls for is someone that can teach fundamentals to the kids and to keep the entitled vets from acting entitled and corrupting the kids with half assed efforts.

When all the bad contracts are gone he will probably be thanked for his efforts and then given the cush position of minor league roving instructor. Hendry will be removed in a less polite way and the new regime will take over and the team should be well on its way to being competitive again.

I don't know if Sandberg is gong to be a great manager but I do know I don't want Jim Hendry making that decision. It's unbelievable that after a year + of owning the Cubs Ricketts still has a newspaper man as the team president and an idiot as general manager.

Let me ask you a question, whistler...
Are you happy? I mean as a Cubs fan. Do you enjoy the games? Will you be entertained this spring by them?

I don't find fault with either Hendry or Sandberg. If Hendry feels like Quade was the best man for the job, then hire Quade. I hope Hendry is right.

And if Sandberg wanted to pursue opportunities elsewhere after not getting the managers job, then I have no problem with that either. If I was looking for a promotion within my company and someone else got the job and i felt that upper management wasn't my biggest fan and I wasn't theirs, I probably would look for a new job too. Unfortunately, I would still need a paycheck, so I would be still stuck working at the same company while looking for future employment. But if I was financially secure, I probably would do the same thing Sandberg did.

The best GM the Cubs have ever had, Dallas Green, ripped the Cubs for the way they handled the Sandberg situation.

The Cubs were in a no win situation. If they dont hire Sandberg they piss off the meatballs, if you hire Sandberg and he loses (which this team will do plenty of until the bad contracts are gone) then you have to fire a legend. Look at Santo, he should have been fired years ago but the Cubs are too chickenshit to fire a Cubby great.

Start going to Kane County Cougars games. Never sold out and lots of kids playing everyday. Plus there is fireworks
