They should get rid of that conservative talk show host Mike McConnell who came from Cincinnati. That guy with a rich middle aged white man republican talking points point of view from a confrontational style doesn't work for the Chicago market on WGN. Put him on 560 AM and I am sure he will do fine with that audience but not on WGN.

probably because where would you put him when the cubs season is over. The issue with Murph is when he talking basketball, football, hockey, chess, checkers, etc... he is still talking about the cubs.

WGN Radio 720 has made some very questionable moves in recent months, not the least of which were the controversial hirings of Kevin "Pig Vomit" Metheny as Program Director and CONVICTED FELON, ex-City Clerk Jim Laski hosting on non-Blackhawks & Cubs' gamenights at the Tribune-owned news/talker. Metheny's the same guy who told midday duo Judy Markey & Kathy O'Malley to get lost, let alone took funnyman Steve Cochran off the air in the manner he did...IN THE MEN'S ROOM! The station has also undergone several head-scratching monikers as well under Metheny's watch. NEWS 720 WGN? What the hell does that mean?

Deacon, when "Pig Vomit" called the shots at WGN, he had the nerve to remove Steve Cochran BEFORE HE COULD HAVE A CHANCE TO SAY GOOD-BYE TO HIS LISTENERS! It was how he was removed that many had a huge problem with..."Pig Vomit's" people skills absolutely sucked!

I like Nick D quite a bit, but he suffers from Laurence Holmes Disease in that he spends a lot of time talking about what he's going to be talking about rather than just talking about it.

And his rambling, sometimes goofy, style is better suited for overnights where you have to fill large stretchs of time for people who aren't invested in a topic. He doesn't sound as good during day time shifts for that very reason.

Luckily he doesn't suffer from other LoHo disorders...

Nick does love a good tangent. You're right, you can't do those during the day with all the news/weather/traffic/sports updates and shit. It was like that w/ John Williams/Spike O'Dell and the morning shift. They were just looser, better, in the afternoons.

SHARK, famed "shock jock" Howard Stern, formerly of WNBC and WNBC.com, coined the phrase "Pig Virus" to describe Metheny. "Pig Vomit" was a character in the 1997 movie "Private Parts". This character was a "composite character" which combined Metheny and John "The Incubus" Hayes (Metheny's replacement at WNBC) and was portrayed by actor Paul Giamatti, son of former baseball commissioner Angelo Bartlett "Bart" Giamatti.
