I like Wilbon. Man, how long before kids will have to be told what a newspaper was.

Thats interesting. I wonder if they will try to get him on the air at ESPN 1000 more now. Lord knows their lineup could use a shakeup. Plus it would be good to get another Cub fan on the air for counter programming against WSOX.

I like him too. Do you realize how much money ESPN corp is putting into these local city websites. A lot. And they pimp them on all of their national TV shows and game broadcasts.

It's a smart move. They're getting a lot of talent and paying for it. I never go there but I'm sure it's a destination for a lot of people. I heard somewhere that Chicago, Boston, Dallas and New York are making money with these websites.

The Score copied their model by calling their site CBSChicago.com. But they don't have the money to throw at it for good content so we get Larry and Goff blogs. ESPNChicago has actual professional writers.

I like Wilbon and would like to hear him on the air too. Dump the Saloon and throw Wilbon there

His first regular column was on ESPN.com today. I used to read The Washington Post online every day to get his columns...he's one of my favorite writers.

Well, yeah. But they're combo radio reporters/bloggers. They have others that are good writers.

Here's their site. It kills the Score site. Mellisa Isascson is a columnist there too. Not that she's great but she is a pro writer. Like I said, a lot of money from Bristol went into all of these local sites. You can tell. Wilbon had to cost a pretty penny.

http://espn.go.com/chicago/

Plus the radio guys pub it all the time cuz that's the site they plug for you to hear the stream. It's no longer ESPN1000.com. It's ESPNChicago.com so wanting to listen to the radio guys takes you to their sports page.

Yes. He will be on S and W once a week.

Larry, Goff and Hood can learn a lot from Wilbon if they want to. He never mentions race much unless it's called for. It's all about the sports. He has good sports thoughts and insight. That's why he has a big following and is respected.

He's the greatest black sports media member this city has ever produced.

Some people might say the Gumbel brothers are the best to come out of Chicago but I'll take Wilbon. Although he does some sports, Bryant isn't really a sports person anyway.

Remember, Larry once said that white people think all black sportscasters should be like Stu Scott. It would shock him to read here that we all like Wilbon. We don't have the sterotype problem, but he sterotypes us with that assumption. :(

Wilbon is good, but I much prefer Kornheiser, especially the columns where he ridicules Wilbon.

This post was kind of amusing to me because I had just read Post blog discussion about Wilbon, and multiple reader comments accuse him of being a racist. Maybe one of those commenters is like the Beardown of the DC area.

Knock off this bullshit.....You know as well as anybody that WGN has been Cubbie Radio and TV FOREVER....that Tribune tie in to part you Cub fans from your money....
And WGN never misses a trick.....Harry Caray's Funeral....now they are exploiting Santo's Funeral...
The target audience for WGN has always been DIPSHITS AND MENTAL PATIENTS....hopefully WGN won't be encouraging the mourners along the procession route to throw themselves under the wheels of Santo's hearse.

That's why I chose not to respond to Beardown because it's further proof that he has no idea what he's talking about.

Never read any comments on news sites. The dumbest humanity can muster are the only ones that respond to stories. I'd imagine a certain population will always claim a person is racist if their skin color doesn't match theirs, and those seem to be the type that would actually respond.
