He's been a horrible head coach in three different places. Still, he has done a better job at Pitt than he did with the Bears or Dolphins. I'm suprised they axed him. Pitt has been more relevant under his direction than they had been at any time in the past 25 years.

Didn't Pitt play in a BCS game just prior to Wanny taking over? If I remember correctly, Walt Harris turned the program around, and then Wanny came in and instantly fucked things up.

It was Jerry Angelo's first year, when the Bears went 13-3 - and then he felt pressured to give Tricky Dick an extension. Worst 13-3 team in the history of football!

In 4 years, Johnson never won his division. Wanny did it 3 times.

Johnson never won more than 10 games. Wanny did it twice.

Johnson had Dan Marino. Wanny had Jay Fiedler.

Wanny while at Pitt lost almost all of his huge games he was in. he had some great talent there and had decent records, he just lost the big games. Even when he was favored!

Within that "big game" record he also had a terrible W/L % on weeknights and games that he had more than 7 days to game plan.
