Couldn't find the old thread on this but this show, IMO, is the best show on TV right now, at least Sci-Fi-wise. The show got off to a slow start last year but kicked it in gear with about 2 episodes to go at the end of last year and carried that momentum into this season.

It's worth trying to go back and catch up. Could probably even start with just the last 4 episodes of last year and move on. If you like X-Files, it's got a little Lost in it, and Walter Bishop is a great character, check it out.

I've seen every episode of this show. It has its low points, which can be very dull. But it also has its high points, which can be great sci-fi. The writing is good, but the way some story-arcs are structured is terrible. There is too much jumping around from plot to plot.

I'm with you Dr. Been watching this show from day 1 and it rocks. Many people do complain about how one week might just be "monster of the week" episode, but then it can get right back to the main mythology stuff. I don't mind it right now...because it has gotten better every episode. This season has been outstanding. John Noble is brilliant...hope he gets some critical love soon. Can't wait for the 2 part finale coming up.

Count me in as a loyal and avid fan. I concur it's the best thing on TV right now, even with Dbag's valid points. That said, the ending for the first season was about the ballsiest thing I've seen a show do in a long time; I'm still a little surprised it didn't generate more press - good, bad, or indifferent.

Only "complaint" I might have is how Bell is used 95% in name, and not on-screen.

John Noble is really someone to watch work; all you see is Dr. Bishop, not somebody playing a character named Dr. Bishop.

never really gave it a chance after hating the pilot. but i've heard it got better after that. i just didn't like any of the characters and found the storyline a bit too much like "the x-files" without the compelling characters.

i don't know that i can give myself to another hour long show though. "lost" is enough for me. and that's like watching 4 shows at once.

Agreed. That's why last night's ending was so great also. I've been focused so much on "our" family that I hadn't considered what was going on with them over there much.

This show has gotten me a few times on some great endings - that one, the gravestone ending with Dr. Bishop last year, the finale last year...this is my favorite show right now and it's not even very close.

W_Z, it might be worth another look. Agreed on your thoughts on the beginning of the series but the characters have developed pretty nicely into an interesting group.

Can't commit to watching any show unless it's full seasons on DVD, but did pick up the first season on a reccomendation and enjoyed it. Will do the same when the second season comes out.

The third season of this show is some of the best sci-fi I have seen on TV in a very long time. This show just gets better and better each year.

I love this show. Unfortunately, it is moving to Friday nights in January but I am still holding out hope that they will renew it for a fourth season.

Dammit Fox. That station has killed so many shows by moving things around. The Friday night death slot could be the end of them.

i concur with just about everything said in this thread. i started off kind of "meh" in season 1 when it seemingly started off as a cavalcade of old x-files "dog-boy in teh woods" type one-and-done episodes every week... but once the multi-season arc narrative kicked in and everything started building up, it's become a nab-and-see event for me each week.

i wonder if we're ever going to get a proper explanation as to what the observers are about. they could just be a little easter egg along with the glyph cipher bumpers going into each break.

i will be very pissed off if in the end everyone ends up in a church with all of the major religious symbols on a stained glass and we find out that the multiverse was just a form of purgatory for everyone to work out their issues with their dark sides.

/me also can't wait for the other side's william bell to show up sometime.

Yeah, our Bell said he was supposed to have died in a car crash or something when he was young. He could have been lying of course, but I think Nemoy said the season 2 finale was going to be his last acting job ever.

From last week:

Fringe gets totally stomped by CSI: NY most weeks at 8, although last week it was up against the NCAA.

Yeah, the ratings have been crap. But, as my man Bruce Weber would say, "who cares"? The show is great and they've re-upped for another full season.

Plus, odds are good they'll move the show and pair it up with another sci-fi show - Spielberg's Terra Nova which will no doubt get a huge promo push. Ratings could be quite different next year.

While I love the show I wouldn't mind if they treated next season as the last. 4 seasons seems about right for a sci-fi show and they can focus on a solid conclusion. It worked for BSG and most people say Lost would have been better if it ended earlier.

I don't want to give any spoilers, but I really like where this show is going for the upcoming season. I just hope Fox doesn't find a way to fuck it up.

This weeks episode was great, and the finale should be intense.

I don't know how smart this is, but it is worth noting. If you have been missing "Fringe" at its regular day & time Fridays at 8p, FOX has also been airing Saturdays at 10p. This week's rerun will be a tad later due to "NASCAR on FOX" in prime time from Darlington, SC.

This much I can also tell you. The broadcast networks will be getting together within the next 2 weeks to determine whether "Fringe" and other shows that seem to be underwatched in the ratings will be picked up for the fall. Keep your fingers crossed.

It's was renewed for another season around December or January.

Fringe is awesome. I really like the direction they took Peter's character this season and I hope Sam Wise gets more involved next season as I thought that actor did a great job in that role.
