Its ironic how a domed team still has to move the date of a game because of weather.

Gonna have to move the game now because of the dome it looks like. The dome has disappeared.

Only if a city nearby had a dome that could handle this game, IF ONLY!

Metrodome can’t host Giants-Vikings, NFL seeks other options

Posted by Michael David Smith on December 12, 2010, 10:28 AM EST
The blizzard in Minnesota has damaged the Metrodome badly enough that this week’s Giants-Vikings game cannot be played there, and now the NFL is exploring options that would include the University of Minnesota, Ford Field in Detroit or Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello has announced that Metrodome officials told the league that the dome will not be available for the Giants-Vikings game on Monday — and that it wouldn’t even be available if the league were willing to push the game back another day to Tuesday.

So now the league is exploring alternatives, and plans to play the game on Monday night. According to Aiello, the options are “the University of Minnesota stadium or another domed NFL stadium.”

The University of Minnesota’s stadium is outdoors, which would be brutal given the weather in Minnesota this week. The Giants got on their plane yesterday thinking they were heading to Minnesota to play an indoor game, and they didn’t bring their warm-weather gear with them, so the Giants would have to scramble to get ready to play in bitter cold.

If the game does move to another domed NFL stadium, Detroit and Indianapolis would make the most sense geographically. The web sites for both Ford Field and Lucas Oil Stadium list no conflicting events for Monday night.

D'oh for me, the Bears/Vikings game next week is a Monday night game already, so it will still be seven days rest for the Vikings. Darn.

ESPN Shit Fest unless you have the Sunday Ticket, or can wait until 10 for the NFL Network to show it.

Local markets only. I actually learned something by listening to M&H today. MNF is protected by their contract.

Here's the deal with the Giants/Vikings' game tonight. FOX stations in New York, Albany and the Minneapolis areas, along with DIRECTV's Sunday Ticket will be able to see the game LIVE as it happens at 6:20p (CT) from Ford Field in Detroit. 670 The SCORE will air the game in progress starting at 7p, followed by the regular "Monday Night Football" game between the Ravens & Texans in Houston via Westwood One, also in progress. Got all that to this point?

According to ProFootballTalk.com, NFL Network will actually air tonight's game on tape delay at 11p in its entirety, complete with Joe Buck, Troy Aikman & Pam Oliver's description via FOX Sports HD. If you are hoping to watch the game on FOX32 and other FOX stations across America, forget it. You'll be getting the network's regularly scheduled programming instead. That means the medical drama "House" and the legal drama "Lie to Me" will air as scheduled.
