before the Pat and Ron era began, there was Dewayne Staats and Bob Brenly and Davey somethingorother (I can still remember his voice) on the radio

how do u feel about Dewayne Staats?

I always liked him, and I always wondered why he left without much fanfare ...kinda like he was shipped out on the downlow...except Bully Hendry wasn't around then, so cant go with that theory

it's amazing that 20 years later he sounds exactly the way I remember...he is now the play by play guy for the Rays

he has that old school Harry Kalas and Vin Scully feel to him...very neutral-sounding voice, yet not ur typical blabbering boring neutral-sounding guys of today

Dewayne calls it in a simple way and doesnt read too much into things...very old-school and I love it

when he was with the Cubs it was easy to make fun of him because he was up against a charismatic legend, Harry Caray, and he had that big mustache...the Dennis Eckersley look...but now, I get him a little more and appreciate it

Otto was aroudn when WGN ran the show, now WGN has someone else to talk to and I just dont see the young brooks boyer type hot shots in slick suits running around Wrigley these days bringing in Mr Boredom.
