An actual deserving Hall of Famer. Died at 92.

I think we need to shut everything down for the funeral.

I wonder what WGN's coverage will look like.

He enlisted in WWII that day after Pearl Harbor and was the first ballplayer to do so. A true American hero.

Will the funeral procession do a lap around Jacobs Field?

That's too bad. He was a cranky old guy but he loved to talk. He had his own museum in rural Iowa and he'd entertain anyone who rang his doorbell. The guy signed more autographs than anyone. I was surprised to see a ball last week that didn't have his signature on it.

Plus, unlike almost any other great ballplayer, he signed for free.

Rapid robert threw a ball against a motorcycle going 100 mph ..the 1st speed gun. Also in his 1st game at Comiskey he hit a foulball which hit his mom...think I got that on a back of a baseball card.remembered by those who knew you :(

This was what I was looking for when I started this thread.

I wish I was old enough to have seen him pitch.

Every year a guy from Ohio State comes to Northwestern and shows a bunch of old baseball films at the Block Museum. I've gone three times now and it's always good. He usually has some funny Feller stuff, like an interview Mike Wallace did with him where Wallace is smoking like a fiend the whole time and Feller is advocating for free agency and complaining about beer drinking.
