MJH, I think the campaign should begin on your show to ask the Bears to let Jenifer Hudson, Golden Globe Winner, American Idol contestant and Chicago native, to sing the national anthem at the NFC Championship game. Hudson grew up a few miles from Soldier Field in public housing and like many couldn't afford to go to Bears games. Wouldn't it be nice if the Bears had Hudson come in to sing the anthem as she builds momentum going into the Academy Awards nomination. And bottom line, the girl can sing her ass off!

Jason, I respect your ideas and opinions, and you are always a strong caller. But I could not care less who sings the national anthem, so long as they don't butcher it. I just don't want it disrespected.

Generally I don't care who sings it either, but from a sporting standpoint, a lot of times players and fans get an emotional boost right before the game if a strong anthem is sung followed by three F-16's going overhead.

They did this last Sunday and also several times during the year. I am sure if the weather is conducive, they will do it again. If you haven't seen it, it is awesome. The jets nearly scrape the upper deck.

I'm sure that they'll have some Katrina survivor who moved to Chicago sing it.

I don't care who sings it as long as they sing it with the proper PACE and LENGTH. I can't stand it when these singers grandstand by trying to personalize our anthem and holding notes super long and attempting to make it fancy in their own way. Sing it how it was written and with feeling. Nothing more, nothing less.

I agree with you Hawkeye in that many singers are doing it just for the publicity. That's why I'd like to see Jenifer do it. I think she is truly humbled by all of the praise she is getting and would do the anthem justice.
In terms of proper pace and length, I think a caller into MJH one time said he played in a band and that it should be between 1:50 and 2:05.
With that said, I do like singers putting their own unique or cultural twist on the song. It's what makes America the great nation that it is.

If they have ever met Barack Obama before that would help too.

I'll give you one outlier for that one as it was an incredible piece of work.

Wayne Messmer did last Sunday's game. I think it's going to be Kiefer Sutherland for the ultimate "24" tie-in.

Seeing that MJH aren't too enamored with R&B, I'm certain that Mac couldn't tell Jennifer Hudson from Beyonce or Az Diamondbacks infielder Orlando Hudson.

Wayne Messmer should be the only one to sing the National Anthem at an historic Chicago sporting event.

So Hudson would fit under the canopy of "Uddah moosic"?

Could care less if she sings, but if she wears something tight and revealing that shows off her massive bazookas I would watch.
