yeah, they were totally unprepared for that onside kick. it was perfectly executed, but it didnt need to be. the giants were all running away from it.

It seems like when the return guy bobbles the ball as Jackson did or otherwise throws a hitch in the normal rhythm of the return they perhaps more often get a big return (or get snuffed, ha) than when they catch it clean and take off as expected. The Jaguars return guy Thomas sort of faked a fair catch call and that caused Indy's kick-off team to pause for a few beats as Thomas took off and ran it back for the TD.

They cleared out so quickly, before the ball was even kicked, that the Eagles kicker could've almost audibled/optioned into/out of an onside kick there. He's 8/18 career converting onside kicks.

So it helps the Bears if the Eagles win?

Yes because the Bears own the tie breaker if both end up with same record, whereas the Giants own the tie breaker vs the Bears..

Edit...wow.....unbelievable.,...

Help me understand. In my mind Bears need Giants to win the division because if it comes down to wild cards then the Bears owning the tiebreaker vs. Eagles is advantage Bears.

there shouldn't be any discussion about the division at this point. i think at this point you're talking about who can get the higher seed.

I think I'm glad I skipped this game. I watched "good Rex" emerge in the 2nd half of the Skins/Boys game. Made it into a tight game.

Akers played it perfectly. His leg speed was identical to the speed he would have if he was going deep. Even on TV I thought it was a regular kickoff.
