I'm looking for serious input here, but I suppose you could use this as a tip also:

Joe Webb is starting as QB this week for the Vikes. On the Yahoo service, he is listed as a both a QB and a WR. We are in our first week in the playoffs, and a team picked him up and started him as a WR.

My dilemma: As the commish in this league, is this fair? Our scoring system is very "old school" and admittedly skewed toward QB's, and now this person is essentially starting 2 QB's. Should I do something about this?

I'm commissioner of a league as well. If you play by Yahoo rules, this is acceptable. I'm dealing with the same thing in two leagues. Honestly, I don't think the production will be worth the worry leading in.

I'm playing Webb as a WR on one of my FF teams too. Danny Woodhead is also listed as a RB & WR even though he doesn't play WR.

Here's the problem in our league:

10 yds passing = 1 pt.
WR stats are "standard". There is no way he thinks Joe Webb is his best WR, given that Webb will score "zero" points as a WR.

Yes, we have the Woodhead thing too, and we had Colston a couple years ago as WR/TE too. But using 2 QB's is a completely different situation now, in this league.

Is this guys team in an important matchup this week? Are they playoffs going yet? Is this match going to determine a playoff spot?

If the answer is yes to one of those then I would probably step in and do something about it. But if it isn't I would probably just leave it be

Yes, RFDC, good questions.

This is the 1st round of the playoffs (semifinals overall).

Nobody has added, dropped, drafted Webb in this league until this week. Also - he has 6 WR's on his bench, including Welker, S. Holmes, etc. There is no way he's doing this as a WR move.

Completions score 1 point in the league that I am starting Webb in as a WR. Every year there are a couple of players who for some reason Yahoo classifies in 2 different positions, even though they only play 1 position.

Yes, the "double classification" happens in every league every year. The difference is that it usually doesn't involve a starting QB as a WR in the fantasy playoffs.

Am I really over-thinking this one?

I said something. Just now I went and posted that unless I hear overwhelming dissent, I will "void" this move at 11:00 tomorrow

As you know, this is a pretty "hardcore league". This is the one we talked about last week that some guys had $85 and $75 transaction fees in, in addition to the entry fees.

I appreciate you over-thinking this one as a fellow commissioner. But yes, you are. If Joe Webb wins someone a championship, you need to change the rules next year.

A guy did this to me this week. However I am the commissioner so if I did something about it people would accuse me of cheating.

Yeah, that's the other part. I did make the playoffs, but I am in the other half of the bracket, so it wouldn't affect me until next week (if I win and they win).

i am aware that i may be totally off base, but anyone starting joe webb at any position is likely asking for trouble. granted, my team isnt the best ever, but if i was relying on joe webb trickery to win me a game this week, i wouldnt feel too good about my chances.

Its a dick move that the guy making it will complain and say its not in the rules that you cant do it. But yeah it shouldnt happen and you might want to step in and be the bad guy here. Overall its the right thing to do though (void the move).

I ended up dropping him from his roster (the guy was pretty cool about it - didn't make a big stink. He was actually more concerned tat somebody else was gonna do the same thing).
It ended up being a moot point because he's up 49 points right now......he'll play me in the championship next week. 8)

its a yahoo league, and yahoo says he is a qb and a wr. if i were the league commish, i would have let it roll. if i was in the league, id have considered doing the same thing, and not lost any sleep over it. it is a weird situation, but unless there is obvious collusion between owners i dont think there are too many situations where i would take the law into my hands.

some places you can expect trouble posting opinions in - religion threads, politics threads, tim tebow threads, but i didnt expect a yahoo league/joe webb thread to be dangerous territory!

its all good spanky, i was just offering my 2 cents.

Let him keep Webb in and didn't matter. Lost by a little over a point and he still had Webb left. Also, the Wr he benched picked would of picked him up 8 points today.

Terrell Owens and Dwayne Bowe Fucked me over the last two weeks.

So it's the right move for the commish to break the rules? I think it's a good fantasy move that obviously everyone else in his league fell asleep on. If this is such a "serious league" (That term is laughable), why wouldn't any of the other guys come up with this idea?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. Those complaining either a.) Were unable to pick him up before someone else did or b.) suck.

UPDATE: Favre has been upgraded to questionable. :x

As if it weren't going to be hard enough for me to make up these points tonight with Webb playing... :(

No way that the commish should be changing the rules during the season. Especially in the playoffs. Would you stop someone from starting Woodhead at WR since he is listed as both?

A QB/Anything that gets a start a t QB is any FF players dream. Saying this is somehow immoral or anything is just lame.

If a coach lines up a defensive player at TE and he catches a TD, should that be taken from you because he's really supposed to be a LB? Of course not....
