Hockey sucks because bandwagon fans of the sport go to games now that it's cool, except they spend the whole time people watching and listening to other people's conversations instead of actually paying attention to the game.

2 guys out 21,000+. That, my friends, is statistical validity.

I watched the game. I probably paid more attention to the game than most of the people there. The bozos sitting directly behind me talked the entire time. I would hear unless I was wearing earplugs the entire game. And it was more than 2 guys out of 21,000+, I didn't even mention the post-game cross burning in the parking lot.

Wouldn't exactly call myself a bandwagon fan, or a fan at all. My friend offered me a free ticket, and I went. It was fun, yay hockey.

It's because they blame Dustin Byfuglien for the team's break-up.

Well, to be fair, they only half blame him.

One more thing...

The 8 minute video intro was a tad too much for me. I understand you want to "celebrate the franchise", but the 8-minute self-felattio was overdone.

I'd agree with that. It was even worse when they sucked.

It's always been like that? I figured it was part of the McDonaugh "Let's celebrate the old times" marketing strategy.

A 2-3 minute video would be fine with me. The Bulls do one and it's about 2 minutes. They could produce a 10 minute video of just Jordan highlights if they wanted to. Too much fluff just takes away from the actual game, which overall was pretty enjoyable to watch.

Look on the bright side, it provided enough noise to drown out those 2 dudes conversation for bringing about the 4th Reich.

I hate the day historically reserved for college football is being invaded by The Roadshow of Travelling Hockey Gimmickery. Granted, even the crappiest January 1st bowls have been getting higher ratings than "Hockey Outside!", but go find another holiday, chaps, this one is all booked.

I actually hate College Football more than Hockey. January 1st should only be reserved for hangover recovery. Nothing else.

You can reserve that day for hangover recovery by staying home and not turning on the TV. If I go to a bar so that I can see all the games at once, at least one well-located television is going to be showing hockey.

If that game was played outdoors I would be there. The NBA needs to make a winter classic.

Hockey as a sport doesn't suck, but the NHL sure does. It's always been run by idiots with no business sense.

Do you lose your shit like this over televisual heterogeneity on the other 364 days? Octobers must be rough.

Why would I? I can't think of any major October postseason events that get preempted because of regular season gimmicks in America's 18th most popular sport.

Oh, nothing's being pre-empted. You're telling me that in these modern sports bars with more flatscreens than patrons, they can't set one aside for something other than developmental-league football exhibitions? Come off it, man.

So.

Hockey fans bitch and moan until Jim Cornholio is able to sing the National Anthem before the Bears game so the drunk hockey "fans" can scream (probably racial slurs) during the entire thing. Not only did it not help the Bears win, it actually seemed to help the Packers beacsue.....NEWS FLASH....They are Americans too. Good job pumping up the other team, you big red douche. Go back to "singing" at your lame ass hockey get togethers, and stay the hell away from Solider Field for ever....

Drunk ass perv.

Maybe if you put the same amount of time into making the anthem better as you do chasing tail, the Bears would be on their way to Dallas right now.... :x

On the bright side, this new tradition of screaming during the national anthem is going to be really fucking intimidating when Edmonton or Yellowknife come to Soldier Field.

By the looks of things yesterday, all of that screaming might have intimidated Martz and/or Cutler.
