good stuff.
Also, while I like the Joe's version, I think the Beatles version of Friends is underrated

Don't you have Wu Tang lyrics to derail a decent thread with?

This does not exist.

That might be the only Aerosmith song I like, maybe they shouldn't write any songs and just be a cover band. It's much better than the Yardbirds version (Did they even write it?)

That Metallica song is dogshit.

That is by far the worst cover mentioned here
The Yardbird's version is much better

If you want to talk about an Aerosmith cover, Come Together.

No sir. That is the great Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio. And their version remains the best by far.

Actually, it's not even a Johnny Burnette song, but the way he arranged it I think it's fair to call his an original.

We are all wrong. It was actually written by Tiny Bradshaw. I'm convinced every rock n roll hit that pre-dates 1965, was written by a black man.

Sorry to disappoint, boyd. Johnny was well before my time. I do have some good Memphis stories though- stories that include Alex Chilton, Ron Easley, a guy named Angerhead, a hillbilly drummer girl, John Wayne Gacy, the Antenna Club, the Hellcats, and an 80-something drummer named Ringo.

See my link to Tiny's version? Like I said, though, the Rock and Roll Trio's arrangement is so radically different, I might call it the original. I mean, the Yardbirds and Aerosmith were covering Johnny Burnette, not Tiny Bradshaw.

Okay, boyd, I'm in a good mood after the big Bear victory and enjoying a nice buzz so I'll regale you.

In 1989-90 my band was at the top of its game. I mean we were fucking ferocious. We went down to Memphis to play a show at the Antenna club. There was a local Memphis punk band called Metrowaste that was on the bill with us. I guess they were the Memphis version of hardcore at the time which meant that they may have been aggressive for Memphis, but they weren't anything close to as nasty and loud as we were.

Anyway, the frontman of Metrowaste was this crazy motherfucker named Angerhead. (I think his real name may have been Mark.) When we rolled in these Memphis boys knew we were from Chicago and all they wanted to talk about was Gacy. They were fascinated by that fucker. A couple of them had driven up to Chicago just to see where Gacy lived on Summerdale. They had brought back jars of dirt from his lot. We thought it was a little odd but they were cool guys. We rocked the fuck out that night.

Maybe not better but just as good imo. Love both versions

This was another one I was thinking of when I put Day Tripper on my list. His cover of Respect is very good too.

"Respect" is an Otis Redding song. Aretha Franklin covered it two years after its original release in 1965.

Man, when Johnny talk about "that drunk tank in Atlanta" and "goin' to work Orlando", I fuckin' believe him. I know Petty wrote the song, but to me it seem like he's talking about someone else.

I dont post lyrics outside the Wu Tang lyrics thread.

Are you saying Wu Tang Lyrics ruin the Wu Tang lyrics thread?

Anyways, youve ruined more threads than Eaglo Jeff

Mellencamp better than Van Morrison  :?

Also, Blame it on the Rain wasn't a cover.

I don't even know who originally did it, but I know this version is better than the 4-5 other versions of this song I have heard.

Any song Jeff Buckley covered is probably better than the original.
