As of today, the Bears would get a first round bye and host the winner of the Saints/Rams game!!

While the other bracket is ATL, getting the winner of the PHI/NYG wk 1 playoff game.

Yes, another huge Bear break.

10-4 Bears over 10-4 Eagles, due to the win right now.

Bears play Jets and Packers, Eagles play Vikes and Cowboys.

This Bear team has some work to do if they dont want to fall into the 3rd Divsion Winner and have to play in week 1 of the playoffs.

From the Bears perspective it breaks down to this:

Bears get 2nd place with one win and one eagle loss.

I think the Eagles win out and the Bears lose one of the next two to fall into 3rd.

Hopefully Farve plays next week or the Cowboys bring it against a division rival in the last game of the year.

If the Packers beat the Giants this week, that last game against the beloved is going to have all kinds of meaning and may result in a Bears-Packers rematch the next week.

Bears gonna get blitzed up the giggy the next 2 weeks.

That's the normal Jets style and they have the corners to play one on one with the bear. It wasnot highlighted during the game yesterday but the offensive line was terrible and I think they have regressed again.

Exactly. Much work to do which is why all this giddiness over last night's win is perplexing. They need to win out or they will be 1 and out in the playoffs. Yeah, they won't go 5-11, but 1 and done to me is not a successful season.

This game is winnable and hopefully the players and the coaching staff are more focused on winning out and rightly view that last night's victory is nothing more than an opportunity to take the next step.

If Philadelphia wins in that scenario, the Bears would face them at home.

I was gonna say...they reseed after the wild card round

The best thing would be for the Giants to beat the Packers this week, eliminating the Packers and making them not play hard for the last game when the 2 seed and a bye week is at stake for the Bears. Cuz I see the Eagles beating the Vikings and Cowboys so we have to go 2-0 to maintain the 2 seed.

If the Packers need that last game it will be interesting like Good Dolphin said. Cuz both teams will have to play hard with a lot at stake for each. And you could have that rematch the following week if the Bears lose that game and fall to the 3 seed. Saints have the 5th seed locked up so all the Packers and Giants can get is that 6th seed and a game vs the 3 seed in the first round.

How? The Bears are the only team to clinch the division so far. So that means Atlanta hasn't clinched the division yet, much less the #1 seed.

Is there a scenario where the Bears end up as the #1 seed?

Atlanta only has to win one more game to wrap it up, and they have Carolina at home Week 17. I think they can feel pretty OK about things.

Falcons lose their last 2 games but I'm not sure what the tie breakers are.

Right. I know it's not official but it's gonna be Saints in the 5th seed cuz the Falcons will be 17 point favorites at home if they need that game vs Carolina.

Tiebreakers are the Wild Card tiebreakers. I think the Bears would win but it might get all the way down to pain in the ass strength of schedule tiebreakers. Thank you NFC West!

Seriously though, this is going to run through Atlanta, which I'm perfectly OK with. Go Packers! Go Rams! Go wacky 6-9-1 NFL West playoff scenario!

Does the coin toss take place in an undisclosed truck stop in Texas?

 I still think that would be awesome.

I didn't know what the Falcons had to do to clinch the #1 seed. So very minute chance the Bears end up as the #1. But fuck, anything can and usually does happen in the NFL

I wouldn't want to catch the Packers with an even somewhat healthy A.R. That is a good defense. They played the Patriots as well as can be expected.

Remember Lovie's cover 2 worked well against Matty Ice most of the game in the ATL dome.

I think where the cover 2 is a disaster is against Brady and the dump off offense.

I like the matchup of the Bears against Atlanta even in the dome. As Dr. Ken pointed out, it is the Pats/Packers slants that kill the Bears, not Atlanta/Saints more vertical games. Also, I don't see the power running game working well against the Bears in the dome.

Matt Ryan being like 20-1 at home doesn't scare you? Though the Bears shold have beat him there 2 years ago if the Bears and Lovie weren't dumb at the end.

All matchups will be tough for the Bears in the playoffs. But they can beat anybody in the NFC playoffs at any venue just like they can lose to any NFC team at any venue.

You know what's the most amazing thing about the Bears this year? They're 6-1 on the road. Granted, it was vs. some dog opponents and 3rd stringers, but that's a great achievement no matter who you play in the NFL.

Also, if the Bears beat the Packers they'll become the 1st team in the Central/North to sweep the division since the 1987 Bears. The 1985 Bears did it too obviously.

CTF, it's not a sure thing that Aaron Rodgers will be back Sunday when the Packers face the Giants in what FOX Sports calls "America's Game of the Week" at Lambeau Field. He has yet to be cleared from his 2nd concussion of the season. As for the Giants, the way they lost that game to the Eagles, it could be tough to recover from and may cost head coach Tom Coughlin his job.

Packers shouldn't need Rodgers to beat the Giants in Green Bay this week. Giants have to be reeling from their epic collapse vs the Eagles and Eli Manning should be counted on to complete several passes to the Packers defense.

Eli Manning is "Rex Grossman with a Ring". The Giants' quarterback has had a terrible year and has had several games where he's morphed into Rex.

Of the Jets 4 losses this season, 3 have been at their new home field. Their only road loss being the 45-3 dismantling up in Boston. Giants have also dropped more home games (3) than road games (2) this season sharing that same home field.

that may be true - but it has such a familiar ring to it, it makes me fondly remember January 20 2008, another game the giants "should" have lost in green bay. like that game, im glad they are going to play this one too, just to be sure.

my expectations going into this season werent very high, and they still arent, but if they can just find a way into the playoffs, none of these other teams are scary. the falcons at home would be a tough draw, but the bears, eagles, and any other playoff team is hardly going to be in awe of the falcons in the georgia dome.
