It's hard to believe, but Steve Landesberg was only 30 years old when he landed the role of Det. Arthur Dietrich on "Barney Miller" in 1975. It wasn't until 1977 when Landesberg became a full-time cast member on the classic cop sitcom and was on the show until the 12th Precinct closed for good in 1982. He had quite a dry sense of humor way back then...

You know you're getting old when people who were younger than you are now when you first became aware of them start dying off. Pretty funny guy, did a few Carson appearences too which were good. Lots of jewish humor and a mean Gregory Peck impersonation. R.I.P. Steve.
