Ah, what the hell .... standby status if I could, please. I know it's not a choice, but I'll suggest Shithole Gulch, NE.

Welcome, contestants, to CSFMB Survivor! Your goal is to outwit, outplay, and outlast your fellow players. Rules are always available at http://sites.google.com/site/csfmbsurvivor/. I encourage you to read them on the can at your leisure. I'll also be keeping an archive of the challenges, voting, etc. there in case of any accidental pruning.
Each of you has either chosen a town, or had a town assigned to you. I took these towns and sorted them in order of ZIP code to create the four teams below. Team captains were determined by taking the first of each group.

Teams, please decide on a team name and submit it before or with the first challenge. It is imperative that the team captain PM me the email address they will be using for this game. It would be nice if you all would, but at this point it is only truly necessary from the team captain. I can't accept any submissions without verifying an email address through the PM, and I can't take the challenge entries via PM or message post since they can be modifed/deleted after being sent not to mention the limit on the number of PMs allowed on the board (and contributing to the 1 PM slowdown, etc.)

One of the first tasks you'll need to do as a team is organize your attack... you may want to do it by PM, you may want to do it by email, you may even want to do it by chat. If you go to the rules page, you can navigate via the left hand tool bar to a chat page that should be up 24/7 (at least I hope it will be.) Please remember to keep any public messages regarding CSFMB Survivor in this thread alone -- we don't want to be clogging up the main page with a bunch of junk that non players don't care about. I'm sure bigfan will have the shears ready to prune anything deemed to be unworthy of its own post. That being said, you can post anything you want about the contest in this thread.

The first challenge is coming up in the next post, and entries are due from the team captains by 11 AM on Sunday. Good luck, and I hope you all have some fun along the way!

Challenge #1 -- Sun 7, 2011
This Sunday will be the first challenge of the CSFMB Survivor game. Hopefully you’ll have the time to enjoy Jim Nantz tell the tale of the Ravens battle with the Chiefs at noon on CBS, while Aikman and Buck will likely provide the commentary on the Packers/Eagles game at 3:30 on FOX. Your mission is to put together the ultimate Sunday fantasy team (for this Sunday, at least.)

Stats will be checked at NFL.com and will be official for the purposes of this contest when I post the results. Players will earn 1 point for every 15 yards passing, 1 point for every 3 completions, 1 point for every 5 yards rushing; 1 point for every 5 yards receiving; 1 point for every reception; 1 point for every 5 rushing attempts; 4 points for throwing a TD pass; and 6 points for catching a TD or rushing for a TD. There are no kicking points, points for two-pointers, no defensive points, no points for fumble return or interception return TDs, and no points for kick or punt return TDs.

You have $100 to spend on one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, and one tight end. You must have each position filled, and they must be from the list of players below. You do not need to spend the entire $100, but unused money will be of no value to you in this challenge.

QB: Aaron Rodgers $30
Michael Vick $29
Joe Flacco $23
Matt Cassel $21

RB: Ray Rice $27
Jamaal Charles $26
LeSean McCoy $21
Brandon Jackson $14
Willis McGahee $11
Thomas Jones $9
John Kuhn $6
Jerome Harrison $3

WR: Greg Jennings $22
Dwayne Bowe $19
Jeremy Maclin $18
Anquan Boldin $17
DeSean Jackson $16
Derrick Mason $12
James Jones $11
Donald Driver $9
Jordy Nelson $8
Jason Avant $6
TJ Housh $5
Chris Chambers $2

TE: Todd Heap $10
Tony Moeaki $9
Brent Celek $8
Andrew Quarless $5

Tiebreaker #1: Total passing yards by Rodgers
Tiebreaker #2: Total receiving yards by Bowe

Team captains must send an email to CSFMBSurvivor@gmail.com with their lineup by 11:00AM on Sunday. Captains must have sent a PM with their email address by that time as well. If multiple line-ups are submitted, only the most recent submission will be used. If tiebreakers are not sent, 0 yards will be assumed. The team that finishes first will receive a bonus in the next challenge, while the team that finishes last will be forced to vote a member out of the game. The voting period will start as soon as I post the results and last until 7 PM on Monday. You’ll receive more information on that when the time comes.

newper - I admit that I am pleasantly surprised in that this looks like it could be really good fun. Thanks very much (unless we lose in which case you suck donkey dick).

Incidentally, does each team count as a separate circle jerk or is this just one massive jerk circus?

Also, and not just to kiss some more ass, I seem to have lucked out with my teammates. I'd ask Ivan to pick a time for planning, but he'd probably skip out at the last minute. :D

Not at all sure what is going on here but I hope it rivals the excellent Pittsburgh Pirates MLB season that newper went through. Someone needs to create a Jeff Probst mult ASAP. Just sayin

As the game moves forward, eventually teams will be consolidated. At some point, each player will be playing individually. I've been working on a challenge schedule, and I think we'll have the last challenge on Feb 27th (primarily because I am going to spring training the next weekend and would like to be electronics free.) For those of you that have a mathematics background and have read the rules (i.e. nobody) that means that for some weeks there will be multiple eliminations.

As far as the categories of events go, I'm tentatively planning on five NBA challenges, five college basketball challenges, four NHL challenges, three NFL challenges and four challenges in other sports. I've tried to space them out somewhat evenly, but obviously I need to front load with NFL, so it won't be perfect. If this goes well and we do another one sometime, it would be interesting to try a different time frame just to get some different sports in. I'm also scheduling a bye on Feb 6th since it should be a national holiday. :salut:

I don't know the NFL enough to contribute. I'm going to fly under the radar and let Spaulding have my proxy. Just make sure BRick doesn't try to figure out a way to sneak Orton onto our team.

I noticed I can only PM up to 5 people. Let me know if there is a way around this.
We'll figure a way around it after this weekend but just a little SNAFU early on.

One team is in -- three more to go. Remember, captains need to turn in the teams by 11.

Entries/Results for Challenge #1
All teams submitted entries, but not all teams sent them to the email address as instructed and not all teams submitted tie-breakers. Credit is due to the Scorehead Monkeys for following the rules to the letter! Here all the submitted lineups:

Team A - Team Aromashadu
Michael Vick $29
Willis McGahee $11
Thomas Jones $9
Anquan Boldin $17
DeSean Jackson $16
Jordy Nelson $8
Todd Heap $10
TOTAL $100
TB1 - 267
TB2 - 75

Team B - The Anti-ISOPians

Aaron Rodgers $30
LeSean McCoy $21
Thomas Jones $9
DeSean Jackson $16
Donald Driver $9
TJ Housh $5
Tony Moeaki $5
TOTAL $95
TB1 - 0
TB2 - 0

Team C - Scorehead Monkeys

Michael Vick $29
Ray Rice $27
John Kuhn $6
Jeremy Maclin $18
Donald Driver $9
Chris Chambers $2
Brent Celek $8
TOTAL $99
TB1 - 281
TB2 - 89

Team D - Shake That

Aaron Rogers $30
LeSean McCoy $21
Thomas Jones $9
Jeremy Maclin $18
Jordy Nelson $8
Jason Avant $6
Brent Celek $8
TOTAL $100
TB1 - 0
TB2 - 0

A spreadsheet with detailed results will be kept at this link for viewing. I'll update this post with the results periodically through the day when I get a chance.

1:46pm -- Spreadsheet updated with first half stats. Aromashadu in first with a strong performance by Todd Heap thus far.

3:05pm -- First game is complete. Aromashadu with about a 50 point lead; Shake That trailing, but has almost all players in the GB/PHI game. Anti-ISOPions looking to be in a little trouble -- they'll need a good game from DeSean and Driver to stay out of last place.

5:16pm -- Another update. Still nobody close to Aromashadu for first place -- they look pretty safe to at least finish in the top three. The goose egg for Nelson is helping out the Anti-ISOPians, but can they get Jackson to make a play in the game? Shake That is looking for a big play by Celek. Stay tuned!

7:38pm -- It's final. Team Aromashadu wins the first challenge! They posted 33 points and Vick and Heap were the keys to victory, with both players putting up the top numbers at their respective positions. Congratulations team, you'll be receiving a bonus in the next challenge on Tuesday night. The Scorehead Monkeys finished second with 124 points -- Ray Rice was a major component of their success and they were the only team to use him. The battle for third was long fought, but in the end, Shake That posted 113 points which was enough to take down the position. That means that The Anti-ISOPians came in fourth with 96 points. Detailed breakdown is in the spreadsheet link above. Shortly, voting instructions will be given and the Anti-ISOPians will need to vote one of their team members out of the game.

If team B went with bowe instead of Jackson they'd be who I pick to win. This might not bode well for you fellas. C & D Look good too. I think McCoy should do well today and Rodgers will use Driver. It will be interesting to see how Rodgers & Vick do. That was a tough choice.

Let's see how this shakes out. I haven't had a fantasy team in a long time. Good Luck!
