Elimination Voting #1

Team Aromashadu wins the first challenge! They posted 33 points and Vick and Heap were the keys to victory, with both players putting up the top numbers at their respective positions. Congratulations team, you'll be receiving a bonus in the next challenge on Tuesday night. The Scorehead Monkeys finished second with 124 points -- Ray Rice was a major component of their success and they were the only team to use him. The battle for third was long fought, but in the end, Shake That posted 113 points which was enough to take down the position. That means that The Anti-ISOPians came in fourth with 96 points. Detailed breakdown is in the spreadsheet linked on the challenge post (stupid 1 URL per page rule.)

Team Anti-ISOPians will now need to vote off one of their members. All other teams are safe. The voting period begins now and runs through 7PM tomorrow. All members of Team Anti-ISOPians must vote. To vote, send an email to CSFMBSurvivor at gmail.com. Only your first vote will count. Please pm me with your email address or include your own screen name so I know who has voted. Rest assured, I will not be selling these email addresses to any cheap, high-quality clothing companies -- I won't be posting player e-mail addresses in this thread at all. If you have a hidden immunity idol and choose to play it, you must send an email before 10PM tomorrow when the votes will be tabulated and then posted in this thread. If there is a tie in the number of votes, the player receiving the first vote will be eliminated. If the captain is voted off, the first person who voted for the captain will take over the roles of the captain. If you do not place a vote by 7pm, you will receive a strike. If you accumulate three strikes, you are DQ'd from the game.

The Tuesday night challenge will be posted later tonight. You may start conferring with your team about your strategy. You may want to start feeling out where other players' alliances lie. Team Anti-ISOPians can even start planning their challenge entry ahead of time, but I have a feeling they may have more important things to discuss tonight.

tl;dr
Team Anti-ISOPians - send email to CSFMBSurvivor@gmail.com with name of who you want to vote off by Monday @ 7PM. Hidden immunity award usage must be emailed to me by Monday @ 10PM. Please pm me with your email address or include your own screen name so I know who has voted.
Everybody - the Tuesday night challenge will be posted later tonight (around 9-9:30pm) so that you can start thinking about it. Entries will be due on Tuesday by 5PM.

Newper, can you explain the hidden immunity idols, I read the rules and it isn't clear on how exactly you find one or what they even look like.

When you find one, you will know. It will be hidden somehow in text of the game with the first letter of every paragraph spelling something out or maybe in a spreadsheet cell in white lettering on a white background. It will say Hidden Idol or Hidden Immunity (or something to that effect) and then include a word or phrase which will identify that idol. Once you see it, then you make a claim to the email address with "HI: <phrase>" as the subject line. If you are the first to find the idol, an email will be sent back to you stating that you have the idol.

Thanks to all for the accolades, but I don't have a vote in these eliminations.

Nice call Ivan. I didn't think Boldin would do shit. The Ravens have been relying on their d and usually do so in the playoffs. I also thought the TEs wouldn't be a factor. I was way off. You get the game ball.

Not sure what DT was thinking about Flacco but that was suprising.

Nothing in particular other than he was playing against Kansas City ... somewhere along the line people forgot that the Chiefs are, in the end, the Chiefs, which should explain itself nicely.

As the guy with the least amount of posts, I'm fully expecting to be the one voted off. I understand. Plus, the crappy picks for our team were mine. Rally around this. Unite. Vote for me. Unless you don't want to, in which case, vote for...

Also, if you have suggestions for improvements as far as the time schedules go, I'm all ears and would go with public opinion -- I'm trying to leave enough time for people to get on and get a vote in, but still be able to post the eliminated player and have time to get the next challenge going. On the other hand, I don't want this thing taking until June to finish, so I don't want to wait too long between challenges either.

geez, I've seen plenty of people quit in real Survivor because they couldn't hack the conditions, but I never thought I'd see this many people who couldn't hack it in message board Survivor.

Cmon Ed, sack up and fight for your life!

Challenge #2 - Tuesday, January 11

In this challenge, let's hit the ice. There are ten NHL games lined up for this evening. In order to display your pucking knowledge, we'll have a confidence pool against the line. Gamblers may skip the next paragraph as I will just be explaining how this works and getting back to the guts of the challenge in the paragraph after.

For those non-gamblers in the crowd, the "line" or "spread" is the difference in goals to make betting on the teams closer to a 50/50 proposition (there's a lot more to it, go ask in the wagering forum.) For instance, I've set the line for the Ottawa/Boston game at -1 1/2. This means that if you pick Boston to win, you will win the bet if Boston wins by at least 1 1/2 goals. If you pick Ottawa, you need to lose by no worse than 1 1/2 goals. If the score is Ottawa 4, Boston 6; Boston wins and Ottawa loses. If the score is Ottawa 2, Boston 3; then a bet on Ottawa would win. If the game were to exactly tie (say the line was -1 and the score was 2-3), then it is a "push." A "pick-em" (or "pk") is when the line is 0.

You must choose a winner in each matchup and place a number from 10 to 1 next to the selection. You must use all numbers and pick a team in each matchup. For the purposes of this contest, the games are official at the end of the third period -- OT does not count in determining winners here. At the end of the games, you will receive points from those games that you picked correctly. If a game ends in a push, you will receive half the points for that game. It is more important to submit tie-breakers here since this contest is more likely to end in a tie. Tiebreaker #1 - guess the total number of goals scored in all games combined (OT and shootout goals do not count.) Tiebreaker #2 - guess the total number of points (i.e., goals & assists) scored by the Sedin brothers of Vancouver in their game.

Here are the lines we'll be using, home team in CAPS:
Code:
Favorite    Line    Underdog      Time
----------  ------  -----------   ------
BOSTON      -1.5    Ottawa        6pm
NY RANGERS  -1      Montreal      6pm
vancouver   -1.5    NY ISLANDERS  6pm
CAROLINA    -.5     Calgary       6pm
Phoenix      pk     COLUMBUS      6pm
Philly      -.5     BUFFALO       6:30pm (On Versus)
Washington   pk     FLORIDA       6:30pm
NASHVILLE   -.5     Minnesota     7pm
DALLAS      -1.5    Edmonton      7:30pm
SAN JOSE    -1      Toronto       9:30pm

Team Aromashadu, as winners of the previous challenge, you have an added advantage in this challenge. You may choose one of the following. Option A - You may shift (or "tease") three different lines by one half goal. If you choose this option, you could bet on Dallas and make the line -1, or bet on Edmonton and make the line -2. You need to indicate which lines you will be teasing. Option B - You can turn your 1 point confidence number into another 10. This would give you two 10s to place and then 9 through 2. Option C - You may take a 3.5 point boost to your final score. This is just a straight up point addition; the totally risk free option. You may only select one of these three options and need to include your choice with your entry.

The team with the least number of confidence points earned will be forced to vote off one of their members. The winner of this challenge will get a bonus going into the next challenge -- and you're really going to want a bonus for the next one. challenge #2 entries are due to the CSFMBSurvivor@gmail.com address by the captains on 5pm on Tuesday. Captains, you may designate someone else to turn in your entry form if you won't be around the interwebs -- just send a note that you are doing so. Don't forget your tiebreakers! Good luck to all!

Edit Monday 9:11AM -- bolded some instructions for clarifications sake and added further details about OT not counting in the tiebreaker.

Me either, :( I have already sent Captain T-Bone a message last night. I am not sure if we have any hockey experts on our team.
