Why would a comic guy be thick-skinned? Obviously anyone questioning Larry's ability or sniffing out the bullshit claims would draw him into endless arguments here. None of which he'll win
Its best for him to connect with pro-Larry listeners. If it helps him improve his show, then I'm all in favor of that.
well, i figured since laurence has gone out of his way to let it be known that he is a comic book guy that he'd have embraced his geekiness to the point where he'd defiantly flaunt it and welcome in all of the incoming hate as it would cement one of his patented "heel turns."
btw, speaking of heel turns, wtf is up with laurence seemingly going out of his way to use his "[caller] is on the score and wants to talk about [subject]" gimmick? holy shit, i've had the score on in the backgrond while i tend to some maintenance functions, and like, it's not quite enough to will me over to ESPN radio's coverage of "the whogivesafuck.com bowl" or, wow, my alma matar UIC flames basketball (dave wills prolly has yet to fully recover from the stroke he attained when he proclaimed THE FLAMES ARE DANCING! THE FLAMES ARE DANCING! --- i never understood the fanfare for a team that was destined to sneak into the tourney and promptly get their asses handed to them in the first round) but just because it's on doesn't mean that i'm a total mark with a "larry" tramp stamp tattoo. i mean, i'm trying to give the dude a chance and my thanks is hearing more of this shit? i guess a listener is a listener and it matters naught if you're a total mark or a frothing-at-the-mouth hater seething disdain and loathsome thoughts at every juncture.
anyways, i digress. i can understand laurence flaunting his overall persona or even the aspects of his personality that repeatedly garner ire over here.... c'est la vie. but the whole "[caller] is on the score and wants to talk about [subject]" is so fucking hackish and amateurish and screaming "college radio" that like, besides an in-joke at the station where laurence and mitch had a laugh over how the "haters" rip on him for it but hey, they have to listen to hate so let's "play the heel" and keep them riveted---- i just don't understand it. wtf is he doing? i mean, comieon, just because the other station sucks so bad you're basically the only game in town doesn't mean that you have to subject us to amateur radio schtick.
