With all of the talk about Peyton Manning getting the monkey off his back regarding his ability to win the big game, an important factor is being over looked. He never beat Florida while he was the QB for Tennessee. He's going into a SuperBowl on a high and now has to play the biggest game of his career against a former Gator QB.

This is a no brainer.. Peyton will piss the Super Bowl away and the beloved will leave south Florida as SB Champs.. which brings up another good point.. this is kind of a home game for Grossman given that it is being played in Florida... all good omens for the beloved.

Must have missed that Nas.. but I agree.. he seems to be able to get his teams to the cusp but can't push them over the edge. I hope this isn't the year that ice water begins running through his veins.

Some guys just won't let the facts get in the way of their beliefs. In his soph, junior and senior seasons (95-97), Manning's Vols teams went 10-1. 11-2 and 10-2. They beat several ranked teams during those years. In his senior year, Manning and the Vols won the SEC East and won the SEC title by beating Auburn. Yes, the Vols did not beat Florida those years. But that's hardly a sign of a "choke". Few teams bet Spurrier's Gators those years. I lived there then and saw almost every one of his games at UT. To say he choked in every big game is BS.

Coast.. I think you're missing the point here.. we can't get Bears talk on ESPN1000 during the midday and we surely can't get it on the mothership... so we're making up our own story lines. :) Without doing a quick google search, I couldn't even tell you who Grossman beat while he was the QB at Florida..

and..beating UF aside.. Peyton Manning is still an excellent QB and I'd trade every Bears QB over the past 50 years for him.. cause I have a feeling Peyton would have loved throwing the ball to Gault and McKinnon.

thanks for the clarifications. I was starting to wonder about some of you guys. Anybody who thinks Manning will choke is welcome to take Grossman in a Manning vs. Grossman prop bet on QB Rating, Total Yards, or Completion %, etc. for the Super Bowl. I'll take Manning. Make a prop that works for you and I'll consider it...

if manning were on the patriots, he'd have rings too.

If Manning had that Patriot Defense...yea, they'd have four rings. Not only would the defense have been helpful keeping the opponents score down, but Peyton wouldn't have made nearly as many "pressure" throws (which resulted in picks) because he simply knew he had to score on every drive in certain games if his team was going to have a chance to win.

Yep.. Peyton really shines when his accuracy is on in those 48-44 games that the Colts defense has put him in over the years. It's the games where he needs to do that but can't seem to thread the needle. A little less pressure provided by a capable defensive unit and I can see Peyton spending the majority of a year just picking apart opposing defenses all year long.
