The mike north morning show has to rank close to the top of the worst radio to ever grace the airwaves of chicago, especially factoring in how much this fuckwad gets paid. Who is/was worse than this pile of shit in primetime no less?

Every SCORE morning show previous to this one has been worse. Tom Shaer, Bear and the Bull and Murph and Fred were much less entertaining. I contend that under the current way it is run, it is impossible for the SCORE to have a good morning show. There is simply not enough time between traffic, news, updates and commercials to get into any subject.

I used to think the Wally Phillips Show back in the glory days of WGN was pretty awful, but I'll say this: at least it made an attempt to identify what its audience was and play to that audience. If you were an older person who wanted directions to O'Hare and tons of weather information, it was probably the show for you.

In my opinion, what makes the current North show such a disaster is that I don't think they have any idea what their target audience is. By adding all the Annie liberal-vs-conservative crap and more of Mike's ranting and raving about societal issues in general, they've alienated much of what was the Score's core audience for 12 years--hardcore Chicago sports fans! In exchange for losing us, who have they gained? As for me personally, I don't know ONE SINGLE PERSON who is not a sports fan who even knows who Mike North is, much less anyone who's not a sports fan and who's made the North show their show of choice in the morning. In other words, this directionless show has lost the sports fans and made no inroads in gaining additional listeners to the Score. I just chuckle when I think back to when they launched this thing and there were some comments that North was seen as another Don Imus. Yeah, right. Way to go, guys.

What little time I spend on 670 in the morning quickly ends the minute Mike launches into another one of his sociopolitical rants/musings. I simply don't care to hear what he, Annie or Fred have to say about ANYTHING in the sociopolitical realm.

It's WSCR -- the Score. Stick to sports.

There used to be a show on WLS years ago during afternoon drive that was worse than this...I think his name was Mike Malloy...that show flat out sucked. I'd say it was worse just because it was so damn boring and it was in a prime slot. North isn't really boring...its just bad...kinda like watching Mystery Science Theater without the commentary.

I agree with Dolphin that there has never really been a good morning show on the Score. While I detest the MNMS in its current format, I can think of other people much worse than North to listen to. Case in point is that GODAWFUL two week stretch recently. Baum, Olken, Cannelis, Rogers, Holmes, Zaidmann, Vasco. I'll take North, provided he talks sports, over any of these guys. As far as worst show ever, my vote would go to the Ed Tyll show at the old AM 1000. A whiny, snivelling douchebag, whose sole purpose was to create controversy where none existed. Steve & Garry used to have a field day mocking him and his catchphrases "narrow the focus!" and "weak spine!", when they weren't ripping on Coppock and his "boyquarium", which included a young "Rusty" McNeill. God, do I miss THAT Dahl. Drunk/hungover, acerbic, cynical, funny, and interesting!!

While the old S and G days of Dahl were great the current show is light years ahead of the days when Joy and Dave were on the year.

The show may have sucked, but he had the best theme song in radio history. It went something like "Ed Tyll, you might not like what he says, but he'll say it anyway...."
