How about anybody on the station? Seriously. I'd love to have the Me show on in the AM after some late night baseball. Or Drinkey and Horny. Hell, anybody who will talk about sports and not turning North Korea into a parking lot.

How can you say don't blame the hosts? The general topics show was Mike's idea. He has all the power in the world to change that. It's been proven time and time again that he can do whatever he wants and Chunga won't stop him.

It's not that just I don't like the format of the show; the overwhelming majority of WSCR listeners don't like the format of the show. If you read back in old threads you'll see complements all over and even entire threads devoted to "The show was good today cause Mike stuck to sports" But I do exactly what you suggest in your post. Once I leave the house and don't have the PITA of rolling a dial back and forth on my old ass alarm clock, as soon as Mike goes off sports, I punch the button. Unfortunately that's for a majority of the time he's on the air.

i really hope the general score fanbase is not well represented by the people on these boards. maybe i know why dan and terry get so disgruntled about taking routine calls.

you'll notice that none of us call in to dan and terry.....

i'm pretty sure it isn't.

mike north used to be great....1991-1995.
he isn't anymore.

but, if you like him and the show, more power to you.
most of us don't.

This is the heart of the problem:

a) He isn't winning sports fans, because he doesn't talk enough of it. Therefore, people who want to hear sports talk tune to Mike and Mike.

b) He isn't winning political/general topic fans, because he doesn't know dick about most of it. Therefore, people who want to hear regular talk radio tune to WBBM, WGN, and the other talk radio stations available to them.

Basically, North needs to decide on the format of his show, because while he is trying to appeal to everyone, he is appealing to no one. This is why his ratings and show have gone down the crapper.

IkeSouth is certainly entitled to his or her opinion. I personally think the Mike North Morning Show is weak. I honestly never got a good feel for the show until this summer... in the past, I'd listen for two minutes every few weeks and turn it off. Now, only AM stations come inside my warehouse and its either WGN, WLS, 1000, or 670. I'm not listening to Mike and Mike unless its football season. So North wins.

Very weak show in my opinion. Mike acts like he is the authority of Chicago sports... any other person may have their opinions, but everyone else is waiting to hear what the great Mike North thinks... and once he speaks... he has spoken. Fred and Anne are absolutely worthless. Some idiot posted here prior the the show's debut saying "Anne will give Mike a run for his money." BULLSHIT! She doesn't know enough about sports to even quality as a host for a sports show.

Fred has no opinions. He agrees with Mike on everything. And you know what, I think that's how North wants it. The only person who would ever have the balls to disagree with North on air would be J. Hood (there are people at WSCR who also believe that).

IkeSouth, I won't call you names or make fun of you. While I don't agree with you at all on your views of the North show, at least North has one fan other than 'Keeping Score.'

Seriously man. Tell us why you think that the show is such a great thing. You can obviously see that most people on here do not like the MNMS in its current state. If you took a poll, I would make a guess that most of those people who dislike the show and rarely if ever listen, would punch 670 at 5:00 am tomorrow and not change it if an announcement was made that Jiggets was coming back to re-create the Monsters.

Nobody's gonna call names or pick on you or whatever you call it if you come here and make valid arguments. We all have our opinions. Most of us don't agree with yours. So present your case and we'll talk to you like a reasonable person. But come on here as a newbie telling us everybody is wrong but you (well and Keeping Score) and we just have to deal with it...... yeah you're not gonna get a whole lot of love.

look, i know sometimes there are bits i dont want to hear. but every show on tv or radio show i listen has stuff i dont like.

when i wake up and listen to mike, he makes me laugh. his interviews are always colorful. i can wake up being assured that someone out there has already asked the question i was wondering last night from the game. and he is oldschool. i like that. im sick of all this bland-prissy-boy style radio that people like nowadays. there is no other station like the score, no radio show host like mike (beside murph). he also served for our country. i would think even if you guys dont like him you could at least show a little respect. there are plenty of reasons i like him and his show, and i just listened today and it was fine. nothing special but its just a damn radio show what do you want.


i really cant understand why he is so hated. maybe bernstien is right, this isnt a blue collar city anymore, its been takin over by white collar corporate america.

i dont like jesse rogers but i love murph! didnt mean to cause headaches but there are a ton of reasons to like murphy. reasons not to as well i know, but i dont know the guy personally, i just like him as a host.


I really want to know something, anyone listen to david stein on sporting news radio late night? the guy that asks everyone to say something good about themselves before they talk on the air? i really want to know what the general consensus of that guy is around here, it would help me understand everyone's tastes in radio.

hes worse then terrible. absolutely the worst talk show host ive ever heard. without a doubt in my mind, just completely annoying in every aspect, his voice, his ideas, his format, his demands, all of it. the guy himself is unbelievable. i cant believe anyone thinks like this guy does but then he has callers call in.


it really is so bad its entertaining for a couple times. but i cant sit through it for more then a half hour, he mindset if that of a childs most the time.
