One downside to the office is that the selection process for a new Pontiff is absolutely electric. It has to be in the back of your head that there’s a decent number of people who are more amped up for a potential smoke-watch than almost anything you can do in your official capacity.

Nah. Rules like that are dated and can be changed on a whim. Trump will fire all of the cardinals and replace them with cronies who then elect him Pope. The Vatican is loaded with valuables which can be exchanged for U.S. protection, and besides, everyone is saying they want to be the 52nd state. Maybe rename it American city.
