Wicked Strong was born to win this race. The entire focus of his life comes down to this Saturday. The Belmont is the very reason he exists.

Maybe California Chrome is just some kind of freak and he will run away from the field once again, but Wicked Strong is sitting on a giant race at a distance that suits him perfectly and he has been specifically pointed to the event over a five week period (and perhaps longer).

Secretariat lost four times in his career. Once in his very first race when a journeyman jock named Feliciano got him stuck behind horses at 5 furlongs, and again in the Wood Memorial which was completely unexpected and seemingly inexplicable. The other two times he lost were to two different horses trained by Allen Jerkens, Prove Out and The Onion. Jerkens had trained each of these ordinary animals specifically to take down the greatest horse that ever lived. It earned him the nickname "The Giant Killer". Jerkens' son, Jimmy is ready to enter the family business of killing giants this Saturday. Don't miss it.

I loved his race in the Derby. All sorts of trouble but continued to run at the leaders.

He's such a stayer that I question his ability to really have a turn of foot to win. He will need to grind out Chrome to win.

Thanks JORR. I'm looking for someone to bet other than Chrome.

Does anyone have the current odds they can post? I'm on my work computer and can't find them.

I like Tonalist, if Cali Chrome does not win.

He dusted Commissioner at 10 furlongs 3 weeks ago in the Peter Pan, I don't see 2 more furlongs being a problem for him.

Palace Malice won from post 12 last year, so I expect a similar set up.

Who is going to have the lead in here? Samraat? There isn't any real speed. Could Samraat grab a slow half and steal this thing? He was awfully game up close in the Derby.

With the lack of speed, I can see Chrome going to the lead. He has to go out early from his post and I could see him leading the way.

Mine are similar. I'm hanging at the OTB today betting the early races too. I'm getting addicted to horse racing. I have a lot to learn, though. Does spmack do mentoring sessions?

This Coburn crybaby should shut the fuck up. His fifteen minutes are over. He acts like he doesn't understand that these are three separate races. It's supposed to be hard to win the Triple Crown. He wants to make it so a horse wins one nearly every year. Wouldn't that be great? The irony is that if the Triple Crown was set up the way he suggests, no one would be talking about his horse.

People look at this the wrong way. They want to change the races to accommodate the breeding and training rather than forcing the breeders and trainers to accommodate the races. It's easy to breed and train cheap speed to fill out shitty race cards packed with 6 furlong sprints. Breed some classic horses and then put some bottom into them. Sure, winning a Triple Crown is tough. It's always been tough. Only eleven horses have ever done it. That's the point.

It's like suggesting that the answer to starting pitchers' inability to pitch complete games is to shorten the games to six innings. It's fucking ridiculous. Pussification of thoroughbred racing.

It was funny how they spent 5 weeks building up how nice of a man he was and how everyone is rooting for him.

He has a little bit too much to drink(allegedly, maybe, probably) and that goes all out the window.

I guess he'll have to console himself with the millions he is getting for this horse.

He's a total bitch, but no one is agreeing with him, right? Most I've heard talk acknowledged that that would totally bastardize the TC.

Booze is no excuse for that. You can tell he's a hillbilly asshole. I don’t even think his partner likes him. He was a total dick to his wife too.

The only thing I've heard is that maybe the races shouldn't be so close to each other.

Agreed.

It seems to be something he had thought about for a while too.
