Arrogate's time was better than Secretariat's in the Kentucky Derby.
Nice hit if you had it.
It's pretty embarrassing though what racing is becoming. Baffert is lighting these things up like there's no tomorrow. You can't really tell me that this horse and Defrong are that good. Does Baffert really just have a barn full of Secretariats?
I don't think what happened today is embarrassing at all. On the contrary, it's good for the sport that Arrogate broke the 147 year-old Travers record today. He's a freak of nature, like Secretariat was.
I wonder what all the other trainers are thinking when Baffert goes one, two in this race, when there were so many other good horses in the field. I don't get Exaggerator at all, not anywhere near the pace and was never in a position to challenge down the stretch.
I liked how Laoban looked around the 1/2 mi mark, when he was there with Arrogate, but I think they ran him on too short of rest, like with Gov. Malibu, Destin and Creator. Four weeks doesn't seem like long enough layoff before a major G1 race. I read Laoban ran a bullet prep his last time out, just blistering, but maybe it was too hard that he nothing left for today?
For the record, I did have Arrogate 1 along with Laoban 2 in an exacta box. I like the sport aspect of horse racing more than the gambling side. Money isn't my motivation.
