It's disappointing to say this, but drinky's show today hasn't been much better. While he's not as self-serving as Holmes, drinky's patronizing tone and straw man arguments make for fatiguing sports talk radio. Where's Jason Goff when you need him?
Good call TM. I thought the same thing. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Goff will be any different.
We'll get to find out tomorrow. Goff is sitting in with Bernstein. I'm looking forward to it.
drinky really needs to remember that his goal as a talk radio host is to be entertaining, not to prove that he's always right and that everyone else is an idiot. In the final days of Last Call, I criticized him for being too giggly and silly that he and Jason seemed to be doing their show strictly for their own enjoyment. His approach as a solo host is also self-indulgent, but in a different way. Now he seems to be doing the show just so he can prove that he's smarter than all of his callers and listeners. His whole shtick amounts to nothing more than an attempt to make himself feel good about his intelligence level. Unfortunately, he's not smart enough to make that act work--very few people are, really--and his humorless demeanor makes his shows feel oppressive. If he wants to advance his radio career, he needs to reinvent his persona--both dramatically and quickly.
