I actually thought the Penn St coverage was actually totally appropriate and was generally under covered everywhere else. The details of that story are so unbelievable, you actually had real, concrete evidence of an elite institution covering up for an employee using his charity to farm underage rape victims. Dan's an asshole rich kid who may believe that he is smarter than everyone else. He used his platform to wrongly go after professional athletes and some of his peers. To either entertain himself or just to simply be mean. He doesn't apologize. He panders a lot. He's said a lot of things that MANY believe to be racist or sexist. He's looked down on addicts and the poor.

I know it's lost on MANY, but those are all things that have been said about Trump. MANY people posting in this thread will vote for him in 60 days The same people want to destroy the life of a guy who may be exactly like the guy they want to run the country. It's insane.

Bernstein fils would have been about 3 years old when Dollar Bill kicked the bucket and the Hawks became semi-relevant. But Dan's hatred of the Blackhawks didn't really kick into high gear until the Bulls drafted Derrick Rose the next summer, because now there was this demand out of nowhere to pull him away from his favorite sport at a time when he should have been able to dive right into it without splitting his focus between winter teams, so he spent Toews/Kane's breakout sophomore season in a constant pout that people were demanding hockey coverage when all he wanted to do was nerd out over NBA arcana every day.

It got to the point where McDonough started over-the-top bribing the Score into favorable coverage by giving them luxury suites and all the free swag they could find but that still didn't sway Dan. McDonough even set up a bunch of appearances for Jay Zawaski to have a Hawks-themed wedding and Dan said it was like going to a birthday party for a five-year-old.

Finally, they were able to pique his kid's interest, but Dan forbade him to play any other position but goalie so as to minimize contact, and even with all that, I don't think he ever really took to the Blackhawks. My personal conspiracy theory is that part of the reason he slandered Cheryl Scott in 2015 was to get out of going to work the next day.

Derek Boogaard, Rick Rypien, and Wade Belak all killed themselves in the summer of '11 and they all had CTE upon autopsy. Steve Montador, who was with the Hawks for a year and change, also killed himself and was found to have CTE.

I think we'll find it out about Jonathan Toews down the road. I still remember the game against Vancouver where he got lit the fuck up and came back way too soon. Then there was the time he drove into the Lake Street L tracks.
