Nady has also played some 1st base. If the Cubs were so inclined, they might look at trading Derek Lee at the deadline, if they are not in contention and moving Nady over to 1st base. Until then, he might get a day per week at 1st as well as time in RF and once in a while in LF to give Soriano a day off as well. I have to believe he's the DH, if he makes it till the interleague games, without hitting the DL.
I'm still surprised you're still at your full bent obsession with getting rid of Lee. I know you loved Hoffpauir but what did Lee ever do to you?
I think Lee has been outstanding overall in his 6 years as a Cub. However, after hurting his wrist, he was really pretty mediocre in 2008 and he was awful the first 6 weeks last season. But to his credit, he turned it on and had a very nice season from that point on. But he's older...too old to sign to any extension that involves anything close to his current salary (14 million in 2010). The money they could save on his salary, could go a long ways towards shoring up a bullpen, that needs some help. It could also allow them to get another staring pitcher, if they wanted to go that route. No, Lee never offended me and I think he's a great team player. It's just better to make a move now, rather than later, when you get nothing for him, upon his departure as a free agent. Lets face it, if the Cubs were of the mind to keep him, Hendry would have been in discussions about an extension with his agent, some time ago.
