Hmmm...And Ed Lynch is NOT on the Cubs Payroll

http://www.torontosun.com/sports/baseba ... 1-sun.html

Blue Jays hire ex-Cubs GM as a scout
Ed Lynch, former Chicago Cubs general manager, is the latest hire in the Blue Jays scouting bonanza.

Lynch stepped down as Cubs GM after 51/2 years at the helm in July 2000. Lynch's Cubs reached post-season in 1998, but they were swept by the Atlanta Braves in the best-of-five National League Division Series.

The former New York Met and Cubs right-hander remained with the Cubs as a scout until November as their Arizona scout. He also helped Team USA, scout minor leagues to put together the gold-medal winning World Cup roster.

Under Lynch, the Cubs had a second-place finish, a third, a fourth, a fifth and a last-place finish in the NL Central under Lynch's tenure, which saw two winning seasons, compiling an over-all record of 413-472.

Lynch was hired by the Cubs to replace Larry Himes, after a year as the Mets special assistant to executive vice-president of baseball operations and worked three years as director of minor leagues for the San Diego Padres.

Everyone laughs at Murph's drop, even I do, but there was no reason in ever living hell he should have had a job with the Cubs as long as he did. Good riddance.

I appreciated that drop for exactly that reason. You are correct. Lynch should have been gone at least after McFail left.

Can someone answer the question whether or not Lynch was TRULY still on the Cubs payroll? This article does not imply that he was still working for the Cubs. I know they buried him in some obscur job in Arizon many many years ago.....then I'd hear those drops from Murph, but I have never heard or read anything that was concrete whether he was or was not still getting paid by the Cubs.

I don't really give a shit either, but if anyone knows for sure....Please share.

Go Cubs!

Lynch was the west coast Scout as recent as 2008!

He was the guy who was suppossed to know everything about the D backs and knew nothing.

The guy is attorney, so you think he should have a clue? Maybe not
