Biggest fuck up (so far) of the Epstoyer regime. It still amazes me they signed him.

Time has come. This is the time. Worst signing of this rebuild. Never understood this one. Ever. Bad.

I don't understand the timing of this...he has pitched well this year, albeit in mop-up time.

He's in the team photo for worst Chicago signings of all time. Made no sense whatsoever.

In any situation that was 'close' he did not pitch well.

There were games the Cubs were up by 3...or down by 1...and he gave up runs. One was a tight game against the Cardinals, if I recall correctly, and he blew it.

He was signed to be a 3-4 starter at premium coin. Mop up duty. Not hard to understand unless retarded or high on real good drugs.

Was never the role of the signing...it was the 4 years of the deal, for a guy who had burned through 6 teams in the league...so you know your trade options are going to be limited...

Once again, its not my money....but this tells you there was no market for him....NONE.

I am surprised they didn't try a shit for shit trade with another team. Yellon had an interesting trade of E Jax for Danks he theorized about today.

I think because of his years in the big leagues he can refuse AAA and they will just have to pay him. Those 15 mil are gone. I think they will give him his undconditional release if he clears waivers. They don't want his dead ass around.

It all balances out. This is a shit deal, but look what they are paying and getting for Arrieta ($544,000 if you are counting at home).

Danks gives you a good game 1/3 of the time. I don't know if Jackson does that.

I think he could reinvent himself as a closer

Is $544 even the minimum these days?

Likely not. He had an incredibly friendly contract.

2011 25 Baltimore Orioles $419,000 0.116
2012 26 Baltimore Orioles $488,500 1.116 contracts
2013 27 Chicago Cubs $516,500 2.066 contracts
2014 28 Chicago Cubs $500,000 2.145 contracts
2015 29 Chicago Cubs $3,630,000 3.145

He had a friendly contract because he was a bust out still in his arbitration years.

This is the type of guy who bigfan would deride KW for finding and reclaiming.

But those low contract years are coming to an end and The(o) Team will be faced with giving a huge contract to a pitcher on the wrong side of 30.

Kennys move dont include trading for guys like that....he just signs all the dead weight he can find and if one pans out, its because he saw something....my ass!

Kenny is good at one thing, he keeps calling and bugging to get a deal done, so when the others deals die, he stays in the game. Thats his "talent"....kinda like a good cold caller!

Not neccesarily. They want Soriano, and there is no one else to send down to AAA.

E Jax was the utimate mop up guy this year...and he actaully did OK , statwise, during those meaningless moments. he is a guy I would say his stats make him look much better than he is,

The guy never should have been signed. He was a .500 pitcher (1 game under) with a 4.40 ERA when they signed him. Why pay all that money for a 4th-5th starter, which is what he was? Unfortunately, he performed at a lower level than his career numbers indicated one might reasonably expect. Unlike many who now are claiming it was a bad signing, I said it before he was even signed. Big mistake. Thankfully they will finally free up the roster spot for someone (Soriano) who should actually have a role with the team and help win more games.
