That was/is a foolish statement. You have to be worried about the only team in the division that can catch you. To say you aren't worried is head in the clouds meatballism.

If they sweep the Tigers this weekend and go up 6-7 games on them, then you can say you arent worried but not in July. And you can bet that if a Cub fan had made a remark like that Brick and Frank would quote them on it at least once a week if not more.

He didnt seem to worried about the Tigers in the above post. Not sure how you got that. He seemed worried about the Royals.

Frank has been pretty consistent since pretty early on that the Tigers wouldnt be very good. I dont see why he would change his stance on that now.

The whole post describes how he wants a big lead going into the series against the Tigers. He even goes so far as to couch it by saying he doesnt want to get ahead of himself.

If he wasnt worried, he wouldnt write a paragraph of hope on it and be worrying about the NEXT Tiger series already.

We'll let Frank clarify. I didn't read it the way you did. The way I read it was that he thinks the Tigers are all but finished and he wants to see the Sox go for the kill in the next 10 days.

I'm not worried about the Tigers. I was a obviously a little concerned as they have a talented team, but I thought they were who they are and would not make a huge run to overtake the Sox. Thus far, they haven't. I said the White Sox worst enemy was themselves and that if they lost the division it would be just that. The Sox lost moreso than the Tigers won.

I am not worried about the Tigers. If the Sox lose the series this weekend it will be because of their own miscues.

Can't you say this about any team in any sport?

No. Sometimes teams just suck and aren't very talented.

Most athletes that make it to the highest level are very talented. They just have miscues that cause them not to perform as well as others.

I'm just glad the Bears arent going to get beat this season by anyone. They will lose due to things they did. What the other team does is not relevant.

Of course they are very talented. The worst player in the NBA would destroy anyone you know 1 on 1. But they would also get destroyed by LeBron James 1 on 1, no matter how perfect they played(relative to their potential). I'm pretty sure you know this.

  You probably should go back to read what I said about that series. I said it was the Sox who were putting the pressure on and it would force the Tigers to win at least 3 of 4.

Maybe you should have actually read that and thought about before you just replied, 'Frank is talking about the Tigers series down the road!'

I am not worried about Detroit. They don't have the pitching or defense to go on a prolonged winning streak. The Sox biggest competition in the second half is themselves. If they don't beat themselves, they will win this division.
Quote:
I don't mean to dismiss them [the Tigers] like that, I just don't think they are more than an 84 win club or so. Their defense is terrible and outside of Valverde and Verlander, their pitching is mediocre at best. They remind of last year's Sox. Just good enough to hang around, but not good enough to make a serious run.
So far, this has been true. Now there are still 40 games left and a lot can happen, but at this point the pressure is all on the Tigers. They were supposed to cakewalk to 90some wins and very few expected the Sox to have a 3 game lead at this point.

I am not backing off that thought at all, not one iota. Its been a fun season and hopefully September AND October prove to be as fun as it was in 2005 8)

I did read it.

You are already thinking about a series with the Tigers in two weeks. The whole post is about beating out the Tigers. There is no way to take that post and come away with anything but "Frank is worried about the Tigers"

If you werent worried and they were just like any other team, you wouldnt be "hoping to go into the series up 4 games" and you wouldnt be thinkiing about the next series.

Let's be real.

And if you're not worried about the Tigers, contrary to what your posts seem to indicate, then you are essentially guarenteeing the division title since no one else is in striking distance.

But thats just my opinion of your posts. If you say you arent worried about the team that is 3 games behind your team, swept you out of first place in your last series, was the favorite and more talented team going in....and you just bring up the two series with them because you are NOT worried...

Ill take you at your word.

Yeah, lets be real. Obvisouly I am not going to guarantee a division title, but I do think the Sox have the best shot at winning the AL Central. I've thought that since about mid May.

I said that the Sox are putting pressure on the Tigers and that the Sox are forcing the TIGERS to win each of the next head to head series.

Sp, by saying that the Sox are playing well and the Tigers are forced to win, that means I'm worried about the Tigers?

Ok, rogersparkIMU.

Frank, you are not dumb. You must be trolling.

You just admitted it again, inadvertantly

If you werent worried about the Tigers, you wouldnt even concern yourself with them being under pressure.

You're doing the Elmhurst Steve thing trying to play both sides

"Im not worried about the Tigers. I was obviously a litle concerned"

End of argument /\

I'm stating fact. The Tigers are in a must win situation because of how well the Sox are playing. If you want to take that (wrongly) to mean that I am worried about the Tigers, go right ahead.

I'll be hoping to have the last laugh when the Sox win the division. You can go ahead and have the last word, because the last laugh has got the better taste.

That is the best example of taking a quote out of context.

There it is in context.

I dont think Worry = Definitely think they will overtake your team.

So they are a talented team that he's concerned about....but not worried
