Why does this need to exist? Why is the name so horrible? Is this supposed to be them creating a "craft" beer that is mass produced by a major beer conglomerate?

Seriously, I don't get it. Am I missing something here?

I haven't tried it, because, well, I don't see the point.

The bar I went to on Sunday had Hopslam in bottles. Good stuff.

Apparently the concept is to reclaim market share from whiskey by creating a beer that is meant to be poured into a whiskey glass. I don't know about this one.

The move is in response to the tendency of millennials to purchase distilled spirits instead of beers, presumably because they are drawn toward the higher alcohol content. Regular beers are usually around 5 percent alcohol by volume and light beers are about 4.2 percent.

Fucking millennials again! First Jimmy Fallon, now imaginary whiskey beer?

I've tried it. It's OK.

I'd drink it before a Miller Lite or Bud Light if those were the only options. It's better than Bud Platinum - that stuff was horrid.

So, I was supposed to give up beer for whiskey, but now with Miller Fortune, I can return back to beer?

It's late, and I'm kind of tired, but this bar has Miller Fortune. Let's keep going!

I went to http://www.millerfortune.com/FindYourFortune and the top results I got were for Walgreens, Jewel-Osco, and Target. My night is gameplanned.

I, like most millenials I'm sure, saw it first at our local warehouse club.

The arrival of Miller Fortune, 6.9 percent alcohol by volume, comes two years after the principal rival of MillerCoors, Anheuser-Busch InBev, introduced Bud Light Platinum beer, 6 percent alcohol by volume. Regular beers are around 5 percent, while light beers are about 4.2 percent.

An extra 1.9% - 2.7%! Sign me up!

Quote:
In that vein, the debut commercials feature Mark Strong, a steely British actor, as “a mysterious character,” Mr. England said, who encourages men of the target audience to try ending their evenings differently.

In one commercial, Mr. Strong says, “You never know where Fortune leads.” In another, he urges a millennial to go back into a bar he just left, “fight the coming of tomorrow and make it the kind of night most men can only dream of.” The spots end with the declaration, “Your Fortune awaits.”

MillerCoors worked with Redscout in New York, part of MDC Partners, in developing the Miller Fortune brand and positioning it in the alcoholic beverage market. The creative duties for the campaign are handled by Saatchi & Saatchi New York.

“Where are the opportunities for beer?” asked Claudine Cheever, chief strategic officer at Saatchi & Saatchi New York, part of the Saatchi & Saatchi division of the Publicis Groupe.

“Instead of beer being relegated to tailgates” as part of stereotypical “beervertising,” she said, “where you have to have a party, you have to have sophomoric humor, it could be a mood shifter, a trigger for a change in your night versus ‘you know where it’s going.’ ”

Mr. Strong “personifies the moment you decide to change the night’s direction,” she added, “when you make it a little more interesting, more exciting.”

This is awesome. This is exhibit A why you get an MBA.

So, the marketing campaign seems to be to increase your hangover by continuing to drink and drink a high alcohol content beer when your body is telling you that it is time to go home?

The hangover I think is only a minor consideration. They're encouraging overconsumption and consequently your "fortune" changes by blacking out and waking up in:
a) jail
b) an alley
c) bed of some bar beef

I thought the song was "Clinton, Bush or Ross Perot"

a friend of mine told me about it and said he'd rather drink a guy named miller's piss before ever drinking fortune again. i think i'll take him at his word.

miller already tried to swindle us with their 'triple hops' charade with miller lite. i highly doubt they can concoct a good craft beer.

I believe Miller brews Sam Adams for them. Don't quote me though. Sam does farm out though for sure.

MillerCoors even recommends Miller Fortune be poured into and consumed from a rocks glass, where slow and careful sipping/contemplation will allow more nuanced flavors to emerge as it warms.

Well, did he consume it from a rocks glass, where slow and careful sipping and contemplation will allow more nuanced flavors to emerge as it warms?
