I don't consider myself much of a Bears fan anymore. I bet in 5 years I don't know almost anybody on the team.
If/when they have a good season you will be right back.
I don't think so. I don't have the time and don't care to make the time for it. Hockey has replaced football. Maybe 10 years from now.
I'm not to this extreme, but my interest in the NFL has been drastically reduced. The Bears being awful does not help, but it's also the NFL as a whole. The game has gotten worse...too complicated and too much dead space. I follow the Bears, but often multi-task with the game on. Doesn't mean I'm not a fan....Bears are bad and I invest less, but would never move on to another team.
I agree with wdelany72. I will always be a Bear fan and if the Bears are to win another Super Bowl it will be one of my sports highlights, but I don't like the NFL as it is right now.
I, like many people, probably look more fondly sports as I remembered them as a youth. I liked the NFL when they actually had a fullback that would run, catch and block (like Matt Suhey or Tom Rathman). When teams lined up in the I-formation or split back formation and the fullback might actually run with the ball. Or when completing 60% of passes was considered an accomplishment and not a minimum requirement. When teams had elite backs like a Payton, Dickerson, Dorsett, Allen, etc.
Now teams facing third and one line up in the shotgun with 4 wide receivers and sometimes with no back. Quarterbacks put up video game numbers and a guy like Matt Forte (who I like BTW) catch over 100 passes yet many of the receptions seem hollow. I hate the spread and really dislike where the game is headed.
