Holy fucking shit .... no they don't!! They - nor anyone else - do not GIVE rights to ANYONE. I don't know of any simpler terms to use.

No person or persons 'give' me the right to freely assemble. That right is innate to me as a human, at least it is supposed to be. Fuck the two that you speak of as 'giving' me the right to do any-damn-thing.

EDIT: Donald was Johnny on the spot and beat me to the punch. he is right. What the fuck is wrong with you people?

When the U.S. President can kill a 16 year old from Colorado without any judicial process, there are no longer rights, only privileges, revocable at the whim of the government.

ok, so you "say" you have that right, and you do, but rahm and barry don't want to look like a bunch of pussies (which they are and another story all together) if something does or doesn't happen. Stuff happens and they don't defend then they are wimps and are voted out faster then you can say jack johnson, or something doesn't happen and they are saying they weren't pro-active in case something did happen.

I have the right to say I don't like something, but if I cross the line and damage people or property in doing such I also have the right to have my arse handed to me on a silver plate

When it comes to human rights violations, both at home and abroad, Obama has made Bush look like a piker.

Each and every one of the masked anarchists should be curb stomped.

The police didn't deny these fucknuts any rights today. They enforced the law. Yes you need a permit to gather en mass. Don't like it? Blame the lawmakers, not the cops.

There is no right to incite violence.

PERMIT. TO. PROTEST.

Still waiting for you to read.

Sorry you are ignorant of Constitutional rights and facts of what actually happened today.
They had permit to assemble - in Grant Park. And they did . So that right wasn't denied. Wanna try again?

The group of protestors actually infringed upon the rights of other groups way, way more than the police/city did. They are blcking streets illegally, attempting to interrupt the legal assembly of the NATO leaders. You do see that, right? No group has the right to infringe upon the rights of others, which is exactly what these protestors are doing.

You are my friend ... I hope I am yours. But you're being purposefully obtuse, a great dullard as it were, as you apparently don't read what I write. Please go back to my points about the fucking looney-toons notion of permits to assemble.

I'm not being obtuse. The protestors that were removed from that intersection today is specifically what the discussion was/is.

They were illegally there, shouting obscenities, threatening people, and throwing bottles, buckets, metal gates, etc. Those people were not deprived of a single Constitutional right. They were, in fact, violating the rights of many others. Sorry that doesn't fit what you originally are upset about. They weren't denied a right. If you are arguing the "freedom to assemble" angle, you'd be wrong, as proven many times in court.

I could sit, alone and quiet, in the street in front of my house. That would be against the law. If a cop comes along and spends several hours asking me to move and I don't, I'm gonna be arrested. I'm guessing I wouldn't get the benefit of several hours being wasted on asking me like these people did.

If these people are being denied a Constitutional right, I'm sure that some of the pseudo-lawyers that run around with them will take up their cause in court. And I'd wish them tons of luck if they choose to do that. But I'm guessing we won't hear about someone taking that case.

Many of the protesters have also retained the right to conceal their identities behind masks and yell "kill the police!"

Again I ask, what would the protesters be doing if there were no police? I'm not saying that they'd blow shit up, but it sure as hell seems like antagonizing the police is the main purpose of these "protests."

-protest the nation's financial situation by throwing piss & shit
-protest...something...by threatening police

Completely normal.

Police funneled them along Lake to Canal, let em go up Canal/Clinton (west of the river) and then stopped them from going back East across the Kinzie street bridge.

They are now going to do the police a favor by marching to the jail at Western and Belmont?

http://www.ustream.tv/occupiedair

Some of them are now at the intersection of Grand/Halsted/Milwaukee. They should just duck into Richard's and get drunk.

They think the hood along Grand / Halsted is sketchy?

emmits was where clooney and damon went in ocean's 11.

Anyhow, the protestors actually walked all the way up Clybourn to the jail at Belmont and Western.

maybe 100-150 hanging out across the street from the jail, with CPD lined up btw them and the jail.

You apparently have no problem with the rich and powerful blocking the streets for their own benefit even when it stops you from attending a game played by your beloved Cubs, but you somehow work up outrage when the poor and disenfranchised- with whom you undoubtedly have more in common- do the same. Did it ever occur to you that that is exactly what at least some of the protesting is about?

Maybe by a few people. The majority have no idea what they are protesting, nor do they have much in common with me.

The police infringed on zero rights.

Here is a hypothetical for the "permit infringes on the rights of the first amendment".

Let's say that I was mad at the President for something, and I wanted to protest and my chosen place of protest was the Oval Office and the Lincoln bedroom. Do you feel I should be allowed to do so?

No. I believe the majority of the people protesting have zero idea what they are actually protesting.

So far I've heard the economy, capitalism, brutality, the government, and war. One of those has something to do with NATO.

And I'm emotional about it because I'm having friends who are being hit with shit, figuratively and literally, from these useless cuntbags.
