Rex Grossman of 2005.
Similar numbers, similar problems, he even hits linemen with passes just to highlight the similarity.
Two weeks in a row of throwing an INT to a LB on the same crossing route speaks a lot towards his football intelligence.
That's a little unfair. This defense is no where near as good as that year. Moose and Berrian are better than anyone currently on the Bears roster. Devin Hester is nothing like he was at kick returner this year.
Kyle Orton has been bad in 3 out of the last 4 games. However, Rex Grossman's problem was he was not just bad, but he was so bad that teams thought they were more likely to score on defense than offense.
Rex Grossman's bad passer ratings: 0.0, 1.3, 10.2, 23.6, 36.8
Kyle Orton's worst passer rating this year: 39.1
No doubt. I think the most glaring difference is the offensive line, as this one is simply brutal. I hear people giving them accolades, simply because their orginal expectations were so low. However, the Bears have just played against three of the lower ranked defenses in the NFL and did not run the ball well for 4 straight quarters.
The recievers are bad though. Think last year how bad many thought the WR corps was...this is significantly worse. I'm shocked that there is a worse group in the NFL, but by the numbers, it looks like there are 3 -4.
I want Orton starting next year. I think he maxes out on talent to the point of being comparable to Jake Delhomme. That is good enough for me.
Thank you, I was gonna bring up the O-line, too. Of all the needs that the Beloved have, we most definitely need help there. How nice would it be if Orton (or whoever we have @ QB) had all day to throw like seemingly ALL of our opponents do. If we have somebody who can
behind center, I think that we should address our more pressing issues first.
