I would be happy with somone comparable to Delhomme. I am just not sold on Orton being able to be that guy. I hope they draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th round and maybe we will get lucky on finding a better option down the road.

Rex Grossman of 2005.

Similar numbers, similar problems, he even hits linemen with passes just to highlight the similarity.

Two weeks in a row of throwing an INT to a LB on the same crossing route speaks a lot towards his football intelligence.

That's a little unfair. This defense is no where near as good as that year. Moose and Berrian are better than anyone currently on the Bears roster. Devin Hester is nothing like he was at kick returner this year.

Kyle Orton has been bad in 3 out of the last 4 games. However, Rex Grossman's problem was he was not just bad, but he was so bad that teams thought they were more likely to score on defense than offense.

Rex Grossman's bad passer ratings: 0.0, 1.3, 10.2, 23.6, 36.8
Kyle Orton's worst passer rating this year: 39.1

No doubt. I think the most glaring difference is the offensive line, as this one is simply brutal. I hear people giving them accolades, simply because their orginal expectations were so low. However, the Bears have just played against three of the lower ranked defenses in the NFL and did not run the ball well for 4 straight quarters.

The recievers are bad though. Think last year how bad many thought the WR corps was...this is significantly worse. I'm shocked that there is a worse group in the NFL, but by the numbers, it looks like there are 3 -4.

I want Orton starting next year. I think he maxes out on talent to the point of being comparable to Jake Delhomme. That is good enough for me.

Thank you, I was gonna bring up the O-line, too. Of all the needs that the Beloved have, we most definitely need help there. How nice would it be if Orton (or whoever we have @ QB) had all day to throw like seemingly ALL of our opponents do. If we have somebody who can function behind center, I think that we should address our more pressing issues first.

How does a team that needs a QB, has no valid #1 or #2 receiver, needs upgrades at 1 tackle and 2 guard positions, and eventually soon a new center win 9 games? That's not even getting into the defensive needs... What went right that allowed them to win potentially 10 games????

Really? Cause reading these threads both coordinators are morons and Lovie is a boob. Seriously coaching has been called a weakness all year too.

It's because most people watch one football game a week, and that game is the Bears game, so they become intimately familiar with their drawbacks and weaknesses. They then assume that no other 9-6 or winning teams have similar drawbacks.

Football teams don't win 9 games on accident. No team in the AFC or NFC west has yet and they get to play each other (imagine playing the Rams, Seahawks and 49ers twice this season.) Something must be good here.

Being better than the bad teams does not necessarily provoke me to say that the Bears are great- hey, I just want to see an improvement, because eventually those shitty teams are going to improve, and then we're back to the middle of the pack...

Remember they will have Williams healthy next year. You would hope that would result in an immediate upgrade. If they can get a starting OG out of this draft, the line should be markedly better next year.

Tait is way too tall to be a guard. D-tackles will bull rush him at the waiste and drive him into the QB or RB.

It's ok to be tall as a tackle cuz you're protecting the edge rushers. Hurts you if you're a guard.

Tackles never become guards in the NFL. It just never happens.

Leonard Davis would disagree.

Robbert Gallery too.

In general you're right, it's a tough transition, and I don't think he has the speed to pull.

Ok. Some exceptions. But you're not gonna take a 10 year vet and change him from a tackle to a guard.

They really are 2 different positions.

Guards and centers are shorter. 6'2 and below for the most part. I've never heard of a 6'6 guard or center. Cuz it can't work.

The Bears are a slightly above average football team with an outstanding run defense, a suspect pass defense, a grind it out running game, and a QB who for most of the season has been good enough with a serious lack of consistent playmakers at his disposal. All wrapped around a hit or miss coaching staff in terms of game planning and an outstanding special teams unit.

Will that be enough to beat Houston at home? I'm not sure, but what I do know is that we have a pretty good pulse on this football team.
