Anyway, football is different than other pro sports. Players get paid for what they can do today, not what they did in the past. I'm personally glad there's not a 5 million dollar albatross on this team like Soriano or something. Urlacher was not very good last year. We all saw that he was not even really close to his former ability. Then he even got hurt again. He ain't gonna be good this year. It's not like he wasn't rewarded for his play in the past. He was. He did very well.

I'd love to have him back, and $2 million sounds like a great price.

I think Emery is doing a great job. If you wanted Urlacher back for big money, perhaps Hendry would be a better GM for your tastes.

He was still injured last year. You may have wanted him back but it's clear the Bears didn't want him back. I'm not so sure Emery is doing a great job. We will see what happens. IMO Emery is acting as if he has a track record of success. His coaching and personnel decisions are risky. If it works out he will be labeled a genius.

Not sure what that means. Maybe those teams didn't want to do the Bears work or didn't have a defense that fits Urlacher's style. What we do know is the Bears don't have a MLB. There aren't any on the open market that will be better. They let go of the guy who could have stepped in at MLB. Getting rid of strong personalities so your voice can be heard is a sign of a weak leader. This Bears team is built to win NOW. They had/have the talent to win a SB next season. Don't piss it away by trying to show how business smart and tough you are.

I think that will be a problem. Shea can't play MLB and something tells me Teo would have a hard time in Chicago and playing for the Bears. It is just my opinion. I hope Emery gets it right.

Personally I would have cut Hester and offered Urlacher another million.1 year 3 mill + incentives? That's workable.

I understand the business end of it but football isn't just about business. Giving a HoF player another million dollars so he can finish out his career in the same uniform that he started it in would have done a lot to help the Bears image. Once again they stuck it to a player that has been loyal to the organization for virtually pennies. The moral of the team has to be at 0. One of the things you could say about a Lovie coached team is they never quit on him. I think this team may quit on Trestman before the season starts and it's very unfortunate. When you have proven that you can win SB titles you can run your organization like the Patriots but Emery or Trestman haven't won anything yet.
